Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Reward Flight Finder’s new specific flight alerts

  • 147 posts

    Hi all

Apologies if I’ve missed a thread on this – I did have a good search.!

I heard last week about RFFs new specific flight alerts. This sounds perfect for me as I’m often looking for specific flights on regular routes – avoiding super late or early flights which have availability.

However, I’ve been a seat spy user in recent years and remember there being some issues with RFF a while back.

Has anyone tried it? Does it work and is it trustworthy?

    Thanks!

    D

Might be of interest. I can’t attest to how reliable RFF has been recently.

See this post about my (poor) experience with RFF a couple of weeks ago:

However to be fair to RFF, there have been other occasions when RFF has alerted me to seats that both SeatSpy and the Avios app totally missed.

Thanks both. Will take a closer look at the avios app alerts – I tried a few months ago when it was a bit buggy.

Very interesting to read about the different times to alert between the three options

Hi. I work for RFF, and I can assure you, not only is the service reliable, but flight by flight availability is a godsend if you’re looking for a specific flight. I have already used it for personal reasons and had success. If you have any questions about how it works, I’m happy to answer them for you. https://rewardflightfinder.com/flight-by-flight

Does RFF use it’s own data source now, I stopped using RFF when it was caught using seatspy’s data in 2021

Same here. After seeing that they were scraping data from Seatspy I have just used seatspy since.

AFAIK all of them just scrape from BA’s site (as they don’t provide an API to access reward info), and none will be immediate as they can’t scan all routes and all days instantly.

If you’ve a specific date and route in mind IMO you can’t beat just checking several times a day – it’s how I found my last 4 bookings for Tokyo.

Hi guys. I have clarified on here numerous times that we do not scrape Seatspy. Quite frankly, we wouldn’t be able to provide flight by flight information for our members if this were the case. Hope that clears things up! 🙂

For the avoidance of any doubt, FlightTimeCalendar scrapes BA 😀

    You missed out a word.
“we do not currently scrape Seatspy”

Only 5 posts on HfP but you have clarified numerous times? I seemed to have missed the one that included the apology.

Indeed, there was even an article about it on here!

Yes, I have confirmed this a fair few times in the past. I had a bit of a problem logging in to my HfP account last week so I had to create a new one, I was actually chatting about this with someone yesterday. I’m sure you’ll see my previous stuff if you search my name though – I’m always transparent about who I am 🙂

I’m afraid you’re not helping yourself. A Google search for site:headforpoints.com hepworth returns this thread and nothing else. If contrary to your comment your previous username did not include your own name, which in itself is entirely fair enough, it’s not what I would call transparent.

In previous comments/threads on here I have always identified that I work at Reward Flight Finder. I assure you there is nothing “funny” going on here. I collect points personally and find this forum invaluable for tips and advice. If a question relates to RFF I will answer 🙂

I believe posts in this exact thread have been deleted (probably as the original post from KHepworth was promoting RFF’s packages incl pricing and links to subscribe), hence not finding the full 5 postsvia search.

Hey there TravelStrong – no, all of my posts are still here 🙂

I had a punt on a subscription and it did alert me today for a specific Athens flight I needed

Of course I’d forgotten AGAIN to ask my corporate TA to put non BA flights in a different PNR but realised the segment was only £37 so got them to delete it. Got through to BA and she couldn’t pronounce Athens and was looking for WT+ availability but much to my surprise she priced up a CE upgrade correctly and now I’m in the good seats

Pray for my return please 🙏

Great to hear SamG! Glad you were able to get seats quickly through our flight-by-flight tools. Maybe stick a post it note to your computer to remind your TA next time 😉 Happy travelling!
