Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Reward night counts towards elite nights?

Considering to book few night stays based on full points or part points part cash. However the part point part cash seems given a slightly better value. Appreciate if memory is right that IHG reward night stay is now count towards to the night stay targets before I make up my mind. TIA

Points and money is just buying the additional points at a discounted rate.

If you do this, find a hotel which sells you the extra points at the cheapest rate then immediately cancel and rebook at the hotel you want. (Just be careful as rarely, points bookings are not cancellable)

Do all hotels not sell at the same rate?

Do all hotels not sell at the same rate?

They didn’t use to as in December I bought 5000 points using points&money and my preferred hotel wanted something like £33, I searched other hotels and they had varying prices, in the end I paid USD 30 according to my statement.

However I just did more searches in several cities around the world and every hotel I can find wants USD 30 equivalent, so maybe it’s changed.

Since the 20% points discount sale started I’ve been looking at P&C bookings, since you still get the full discount and I won’t burn through my points reserve as quickly. Normally I’d only ever book 100% points or 100% cash, depending on what makes most sense at the time.

I’m also seeing that everything seems to be a straight 30 USD across the board.

Normally it would make more sense to wait for a 100% sale because then you’d be paying 0.5c instead of 0.6c (the current P&C rate).

In general, during the last year I’ve been getting much better value from IHG points than from Hilton or Marriott.

IC Warsaw is often around 15000-16000 on weekends. IC Athens is 19,000 in the spring for the dates I’m looking at. The current promo brings WAW down to around 12,000 and ATH to around 15,000.
These are not the most spectacular ICs in the portfolio but go there at these rates as a Diamond Ambassador with a Lounge Pass (like muggins has) and you’re getting serious value.

IC Athens was asking 80-90 EUR for Club access upsells last year.

Thanks for the confirmation and I have noted that 10000 points would cost me 61 USD that should cost approx. 0.51c.
