I rather hastily booked some tickets yesterday afternoon for fam of 4 355 days out. Only had my debit card on me when I booked. I’m within 24 hours to cancel – just wondering what are the chances if i cancel they will appear straight back into inventory so that I can book on my BA Amex?

Received wisdom is that you will be fine. Obviously no guarantee, though. I have had 100% “success” rate doing this, but haven’t tried recently. If you do cancel, please report back to add to the collective knowledge.
Reporting my experience: I did this multiple times in February (long story) and multiple times they went back into inventory immediately. Avios also returned simultaneously.
These were ‘standard’ reward seats, not additional ones released due to loads or the new 2-4-1. I assume, if you booked 355 days out yours are the same.
I’d put the chances at 99.9%. Probably higher actually but I’d feel bad if I misled you.
The T-355 seats appear to be special and are “coded” differently.
As an example I released two Club Europe seats bought at T-355 several months after buying them for a flight that was by then sold out. These seats immediately went back into inventory and could be bought using Avios but could not be bought using cash.
I’d imagine this would give a revenue management person a hernia but it is what it is.

After a very tense few minutes I can confirm I have successfully cancelled and rebooked. I logged into player 2’s account from my computer and cancelled the existing booking from my mobile. The availability actually appeared a few seconds before the cancellation confirmation appeared on screen – I wasn’t taking any chances!!! Very sweaty palms but all good.
