Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    I wanted to book my BA Holiday flight and lock in the seats, has anyone had any experience of booking with the RJ ID and then switching the BAEC so the TPs accumulate with the BA Exec club?

    Any tips to change the membership ID would be appreciated.

    It’s a hassle we need really need to find a good workaround for. Worst experience till now: I stood at a check-in desk at an outstation holding up the line for around 20min. where the agent eventually had to call the station manager to come over and fix it. I’m not interchanging again till I found a solution. Luckily I live close to an airport, so now I just accumulate some bookings and go there physically to get seat selection sorted.

    Side note: I’m genuinely interested which specific issues various OW airlines have with this. As the isage grows, we could gather data points and make a list. I’m also interested in how all of this compares to AT & MH.

    @titaniumostrich – it’s going to remain a hassle!

    Unsurprisingly, these systems aren’t designed for people to be chopping and changing FFP at multiple stages of their journey. Amadeus is designed to accept two FFPs per pax in each PNR, but because it is so niche, few airline agents know how to do this, although it’s fairly basic functionality. The likely problems were highlighted at the time of the RJ status match launch.

    @JDB True, going exotic means managing expectations. As soon as I’m at the end of my mileage run / fun run I’ll post a thread with the experiences. This is clearly not going to be a replacement program. Not in it for the miles, only for the travel conveniences. And there are absolutely none of the latter.

    Appreciate everyone’s feedback, I was going to try to call BAEC and change the RJ membership number to my BAEC, due to the value of the BA Holiday I really do want the TPs crediting there as it’ll be a long way towards silver.

    All experiences welcome in case we are missing something somewhere, have there been any negative lounge dragon experiences for those with BA tickets and the BAEC and the RJ Gold Sparrow card?

    @TS77 All the IAG lounges have been fine. Of the few dozen outstation interactions I’ve had, a handful had to look up if Royal Jordanian was part of Oneworld (and how to register such an entry methinks).

    Changing FFN via MMB on the RAM website (no need to have a RAM account) has worked a number of times for me. People have reported that DM to BA via Twitter/X has worked. Obviously can also call.

    Have had no issues getting into the lounge at LHR T5, LGW, and no issue at AGP last week (just a slightly quizzical look when I showed my card and some keyboard tapping from the gentleman, but soon waved through with a smile)

    I only have RJ silver, so limited benefits. I booked a flight with my BAEC number. Messaged them on Twitter to change it to RJ Silver so I could get free seat booking 7 days out (unsurprisingly, given it’s BA, the seat reservation didn’t work so they had to do it manually for me). Then I messaged again on twitter to change back to BAEC for Avios and TP.

    Complete farce to be honest, and no idea whether this would still allow priority boarding or other benefits.

    Have had good experiences with QR so far on this trip. This is how I did it. After booking contacted QR, they added manually the new number. Took 2 minutes on chat. Check-in with normally with RJ number, had nice time in the lounge, went to the gate 10 minutes earlier than usual, approached the agent who switched to my QR number. The first leg posted almost immediately (wow!) to my QR account. In Doha, I went to Platinum/Gold lounge and just showed my RJ card on the app and they let me in. Now let’s see how quickly this leg posts.
