Can anyone advise whether the Transit Visa still exists for Saudi Arabia and if so, the cost (for transits shorter than 48 hours)? I can’t find much information on the official channels, as there seems to a lot of focus now on the new Tourist visa (Google seems to have been SEO’d towards the tourist visa too)…which seems to be much more expensive than the transit visa.
It seems to be possible to apply via the MFA (Government) website but it won’t show the total cost upfront. Instead it asks for four separate fees (visa application fee, insurance service fee, insurance, visa fee) but only shows these one at a time – i.e. the ‘visa application fee’ needs to be paid before the ‘insurance service fee’ and others, are shown.
According to my research (I’m due to transit in two days), up to 12 hours you don’t need transit visa.
If you need to stay a bit longer you need the transit visa and it costs SAR100 up to 48h (although I’m not 100% of this as my layover is under 12h)
What about the tourist visa. Is that still open?
Hi Carlos, the tourist visa is indeed still open and it is fairly straightforward to apply for one. However it is rather expensive as it is aimed at multiple entries with a validity of 1 year. I only need a one-off transit for more than 12 hours, but less than 48 hours. I just can’t seem to confirm the total cost. The cost of the visa itself is not that much but the service fees can be high.
