Second application approval likelihood

Hello, looking for anecdotal evidence here if possible.

Got approved for BAPP just over two weeks ago and closed my platinum credit card yesterday. I will manually reduce the credit limit on BAPP and apply for a new gold card, but is AMEX likely to reject the application given the short time frames?

I don’t have any anecdotal evidence but just wondering, was the option of downgrading the Platinum to Gold not available?

There was talk here of it not being possible to apply for the exact same Amex product for three months after closure.

Clearly a Plat isn’t the same as a Gold but I’d be leaving it three months, personally.
