A question. Anyone else noticed that over the past couple of years, not only do you have less time to claim missing Avios but that they are becoming difficult to get – out of the last eight shops that I have been buying stuff through the app only one actually allocated points. You are never told why you don’t get the points And so there is no way to change what you do. I am savvy about not using offers or vouchers, going through the app to the website rather than to another app, allowing cookies, not putting in basket previously, buying in one shop etc, but it’s almost not worth going through the app anymore for me And I used to get a lot of avios that way.
Further any claims for missing Avios are 9 out of 10 times rejected but the reason never given. I am seriously considering moving to another airline e.g. virgin especially after the debacle of the tier points.
Is anyone else finding the same?
Yes, if the purchases don’t track there really is little point. Cash back sites seem to work well.
I pretty much gave up on the e-store a few years ago when they became quite aggressive about clawing points back for no apparent reason. I challenged this a couple of times successfully but it wasn’t really worth the hassle for a few hundred/thousand avios.

The Nectar shopping portal features quite a few of the same shops as the BP portal. They are pretty reliable re allocating points and I have auto conversion to Avios activated.
Whenever this topic is raised, there appear to be remarkably different experiences with some mainly bad and some mainly good with not much in between and with no obvious reason other than perhaps the mix of retailers.
We find it still works well and it’s very little effort to be quite systematic about buying things through the e-store to gain a good 30,000+ Avios each year. The promotion they have around Christmas time is a useful booster. If something small doesn’t track, I won’t bother but if something bigger doesn’t deliver the points or wrongly attempts a clawback, I will chase with BA and/or the retailer to get it fixed.
We find the Avios stores works as well as it can. Yes there is the odd rejection but nigh on all the purchases work. We don’t clear cookies, we are on Macs and it just seems to track.
I have always used separate browsers for each website eg one for avios and one for each cashback website. I’m having more luck with the new avios website rather than the old e-store.
I have since adapted it a little bit: multiple profiles for each website on chrome and it seems to be working fine. Everything is tracking including when I use a giftcard to pay which was an issue in the past.
Only bother with e-store when it’s not on TCB or the reward is several multiples of TCB which makes it worth the risk.
It’s often down to cookies. Make sure you accept all when hitting the partner site, otherwise the e-store won’t know you’ve landed or purchased. Although – as others have said – you will likely be better off using TCB rather than e-store.
I also gave up on the e-store as being unreliable a few years ago. I decided hard cash from TCB was preferable to maybe/maybe not from the e-store.
shopping.ba.com is not worth the hassle. You basically have a 50-50 chance of getting paid out. Stick to Quidco & TCB for an easier life and actual customer service.
We have the exactly same experience as JDB. 30k Avios in 2024.
Which retailers? Would be good to know which are reliable!
Screwfix and Marks Electrical good. Toolstation very unreliable.

This.
I always consider the avios reward in something i need to buy. I generally find anything not tracked will get added if claiming the missing avios.
It does make a difference to our balance. 3500 per car insurance policy is not to be sniffed at for example.
As others have said use a dedicated browser for EStore and accept all cookies and i would say doing that 8 of 10 purchases track.
Worst offender for denying Avios for me were Black circles. Twice they cancelled my reward despite not buying “on offer” tires. There wont be third time as they have lost my custom forever as a result.
Most reliable hands down is Screwfix. Always tracks and always rewards within days. A good trick if you need to reset your 3 year activity calendar in a hurry
Accor is also unreliable. Still waiting for Avios from stays all the way back to 2022. They do track, but status have been pending since. Gave up trying to chase them up.
It usually tracks ok, when it does not, it takes for ever to get an answer, if any, feels like they fired all staff looking at that, or left it to a 3rd party to manage
I think this might be to do with cookies? I’ve experienced it in the past. I do like to use the BA portal at Christmas though as there are some good promotions on there.

I agree totally with what you say and other have said in the past, on this particular thread, on previous similar threads, and other Webersphere forum places (fora, pl. of forum). The former e-store is ‘Mince’ and didn’t work, for us, the punters. I dare not try the new e-clubbie e-portalie reincarnation of this Avios collection. Just as before, it is operated in the background by a network of third-party partners. An amalgamation of different operating third-party partners, depending on which e-store you choose to have your cookies directed to, to earn those Wonga Avios! Of course each third-party partner has a different set of Rules and Criteria, and complicated with which outsourced software calculator they used! You follow? As an analogy, It’s a bit like having six competing versions of “TCB” type companies operating – roughly. Hence the disparity in awards and timing’s. I gave up when I discovered this. And it’s unlikely to change any time soon. So that’s basically the REAL TRUE ANSWER to this whole “sinstore E-STORE” debacle.

But Ooooh. I do love all ways of getting cheap or free points especially those Wonga AVIOS one’s. Payback for year’s of Executive Business Travel and that terrible lounge at T1, terrible only due to the front desk ‘ladies’!

Mentioned by others, all great and good ways to earn. I DISCOVERED my NEW collection route about nine months ago and EARNING LOADS! I have not seen it promoted anywhere here on hfp so I maybe the first to announce.
