Just checking before I potentially do something stupid, there are no referrals or anything else to go through for the Barclaycards? Best just to apply directly?

I applied back in September and have still not got a card or a decision (or indeed any communication other than when I’ve phoned up to chase it). Is this normal?
The website said decision within 5 days when I allied, each time I phone I’m told its in progress and I’ll hear within a few days. 2 people have told me the application has been looked at that day, I think because they have looked at it when I phone, so the system shows a last-access date.
