Sri Lankan flights using Avios

Planning a trip next year that’ll include a couple of Sri Lankan flights in economy (possibly business on Dhaka – Colombo) that I’ll pay for with Avios. I’m just confused about the pricing:

Dhaka – Colombo – 3h 15m, 11k Avios and £32 pp (business class is 22k Avios and £32)
Colombo – Bengaluru – 1h 25m, 6k Avios and £120 pp (business class is 12.5k Avios and £120)

Any idea why the cost element of Colombo-Bengaluru is so much higher than Dhaka-Colombo, despite being considerably shorter? I’ve read about a $60 departure tax from Sri Lanka, but even so….. Am I missing something obvious (which hopefully isn’t stupidly obvious)?

I priced up a Karachi to Doha ticket with QR and that was like £350! in taxes and fees alone for a 2h45m flight. I was gobsmacked.

If I recall correctly VAT is applied to airline tickets sold locally
