Haven’t read the daily chat, so not sure if mentioned, but just seen (on FT) that you can now apply the SUA without having to phone up. Cancelled an upcoming stay in GH MEL and tried a new booking: it worked very easily.

You will be offered whatever suites are in the pool for “Standard Suite” GH DOH was showing two types of suite available

    Excellent!

Was always surprised this functionality wasn’t available absent a call. Appreciate the DP

It may not be the case for your dates, but when I was in Melbourne last May the Park Hyatt was a fair bit cheaper than the GH. It’s a little bit more out of the way (but in a very nice district) and not a peak PH but still many levels better.

Oh dear, now I am having second thoughts JDB ! When my dates were different, I had booked the PH using 9k points for a suite with terrace. Then changing dates, remembered the great breakfast in the GH pre Covid, but the suite that time, whilst large was very dated & the Jacuzzi bath above was SO noisy. PH is more expensive but the Park Suite looks good – decisions, decisions 😁
