My wife and I have the BA AMEX (downgraded from the BA AMEX PP during the pandemic). We got the signup bonus when we first signed up in October 2017. I’m thinking about being more active/strategic with the signup bonuses and wanted to ask about supplementary cardholders. As I understand it (thanks to HfP), we need to wait 2 years after cancelling our AMEX to qualify for the signup bonus. Does that also apply to supplementary cardholders? …or can my wife (the supplementary cardholder) get the signup bonus now? I noticed in the “How a couple can earn 186,875 Avios if they are new to Amex” that couples can refer each other to get referral bonuses. Does that work if the referred spouse is also a supplementary cardholder on the referring card? …or is the recommended strategy to avoid adding spouses as supplementary cardholders?
As a BA card holder you can go apply for plat and get bonus if no MR card in 24 months.
If eligible you could get business Plat first.
I’d cancel my BA and wait for 24m and get another BA.
Supp card with no actual cards are treated as individuals.
In theory I would get a plat then refer her to nectar then plat etc
Supp card doesn’t count for anything at all in terms of SUBs
Your wife can apply for an Amex now and get the sign up bonus
Don’t forget to NOT add a supplementary card holder at time of application, as you can get bonus points for adding a supp after main card activation.
You can refer each other as much as you what while you also both hold each other’s supp cards

Can you explain the part about bonus points for adding a support after main card? I am not sure how to do this.
