With the old BAEC year end method, the sweet spot runs (or ran) from 09/mm to end of the following month.
How does the “sweet spot” work with the new BA year end dates? Is it the case that I need to plan bigger trips for March, now?
I ask because under the new system, I don’t know if BA has retained its tp collection year date and card expiry system, or if everything expires on the 31st March.
TIA
I think I read that TP year will end on March 31st and status will run to April 30th. This tallies with me losing 4 months of status which I previously worked out, as my current status runs until August 31st.
So very possibly the skies will be full of TP runners in Feb/March – or April/May, to get the maximum duration of status.
Thanks @Northernlass
I think I understand….so if tier points were zeroed on the 31st March, then 1st April to 30th April are TP running weeks.
For everyone.
Oh joy.

I’m no expert, but I thought nobody lost status as a result of the changes? (except possibly soft landings which are not mentioned in the BA blurb).
I’m Silver largely thanks to a very fortunately timed “sweet spot” BAH at end 2023 and I’m expecting my Silver to last to end 2025.

Is that actually right? I thought people were finding their membership year 2024-2025 is mandated to end 30 April 2025?
I think that would work if @memesweeper had a collection year starting in December 2023 and managed to get enough tier points to retain silver for the next collection year, i.e. Jan-Dec 2025. This is part of the cutover period to the new aligned collection years.
With the collection year dates changing, they’d also need to collect 600TPs between Apr 2024 and end of March 2025 to extend that to April 2026.
@memesweeper, I’m hopefully due to get Gold in October this year, and under the current system that would last until August 2026. Everything I’ve seen is telling me it will now only last until April 2026, so surely that’s a loss of 4 months of Gold? Happy to be corrected though!
My collection year starts/ends October.
I’m expecting status to end November 2025, as that was the position at the time the holiday was booked. I’m no authority on what is correct though!
Search for Rob and Rhys’S article on this which had worked examples for the ifs and when’s on status dates.
BTW no one had to do a TP run in April. Nor is it a “sweet spot” as with Easter mostly being in April it’ll be expensive due to school holidays.

@Londonsteve BA’s website is (remarkably) clear on the matter of retaining status if your current tier point balance and year-end permits (and this is most likely down to HfP’s efforts more than anything!):
https://www.britishairways.com/content/executive-club/faqs/tier-point-collection-changes
I am currently sitting on enough tier points to see me through to the end of 2025 as I did all my “sweet spot” travelling last year, thankfully avoiding having to do much in the transition period.

and in my case it says:
Your current Tier Point Collection Year will continue as normal until 8 October 2024. The status you achieve during this period will expire on 30 November 2025
which is what I hoped and expected!
