Just had an email with info regarding new terms for the BAPP, including the end of pro rata refunds as previously reported on here. There is also a line that says:
“Taxes and duties
We’re adding a new section to explain that you must pay any tax in respect of any Avios you have earned.“
Any thoughts?

That term is in the main (second section) of the current terms. The change is that they have also added it to the Avios T&Cs section at the end. It’s there to protect Amex by clarifying that if any tax were to be imposed, it would be payable by the cardholder, not Amex. In Germany there is a tax on miles earned through business travel and then used privately (for German tax residents), but that tax is borne by Lufthansa.
