Hi all. Has anybody stayed at Thistle Hotel T5 recently? Got a great stay/park deal but revues are wildly different! Also not sure pods are working. Any advice?

Awful hotel. Furnishings in the room seem to be from the 1970s. I prefer the Premier Inn opposite. The pods were out of order when I stayed so Premier Inn would have definitely been better.

Used 5 times this year, pods were active 3 of those times.
Hotel is not the best but we’ve always had early morning flights, so get up, straight to lounge for breakfast. We use the HEX to get to heathrow and check in bags the night before before we travel to The Thistle.

The food is not great, but the pizza is a safe bet for an evening meal and the views of the runway with a beer/wine are so cool.

If pods are out of action there is a bus replacement from pod cat park. or walk across the road and catch hotel hopper from prem Inn, or use the big red London bus(but don’t try to take suit cases on red bus) or if 4 or more persons get a taxi as its cheaper than hopper.

In summary, if you prioritise fine hotel feel and fine dining over watching aircraft land/take off in the sunshine with a beer then don’t stay here. The pods are just convenient bonus.

And don’t forget to book through BA portal for 12 avios /£1

Agree with comments re hotel furnishings etc, but we’ve also had great deals on stay and park before too and on that basis have used numerous times. Red bus from outside the door to T5 is great too if you don’t have masses of luggage.

We’ve used the parking package many times, latest was last week. As others have said, it’s very dated but it’s clean. We arrive late, having dinner somewhere nice on the way, then head to the lounges for breakfast. Literally just sleep and shower there. The pods are fun. I was sad last week when the replacement bus was in operation but it’s still very easy and quick.
I’ve had deals there for parking for 8 or 15 days which are considerably cheaper than onsite parking alone. Also the 12 Avios per £ is worth having.

Also, pods were working when I returned last Monday.

When I stayed there about five years ago I rang Holiday Extras and upgraded to a refurbished room for about £13.,
