Morning. I am 260 points off Gold. As I am so close going to try and hit before the end of this year. Am looking for inspiration. I don’t want to spend 5 nights so will either be multiple 80 point trips or maybe long weekend to somewhere like New York although have visited multiple times so maybe somewhere new. Will be solo travelling. Anyone done any interesting runs recently?
What sort of budget are you looking at? There are loads of trips you could take, so it would help to narrow it down a bit. Prices may be quite high at such short notice.
One five night trip has got to be better than 4 x 80 point trips?
I’m thinking that. I did a trip to London & Scotland recently with car hire from GLA – it was a proper holiday but I could have just driven home from GLA and parked the car on my drive. That got me 320 TPs for about £500.
Sofia back-to-back tends to be a popular run if you’re time poor.
Lots of other runners on that route too, so you’re in good company if you’re going solo.
Least effort though is a 5 night long-Europe BAH for 2xTP.

For me it’s not necessarily budget but time. Thinking if it’s somewhere like NY will be around £3k (ex accommodation) but will fly out of Dublin/Paris. I live in London

That sounds like good value. Did you do Athens recently too? Recommend?

Never been to Sophia. Will take a look. Thx.
“By the end of this year” is a bill ill defined.
Is there an actual date you need them by such as your year end collection date?
Depending on how many TPs you’ve earned since 1st April there maybe a longer timeframe to earn those needed TPs
I did Athens and Newcastle last week! It’s a great way to tick off bucket list places and catch up with friends and family as well.
Definitely recommend Athens – it was our second visit and we’ve still only done a fraction of it. Just waiting for the double TPs to hit now to get me to gold. I would say avoid Thursday-Sat flights if you can as it was heaving with US cruise passengers and CE was 12 rows – though admittedly I don’t know how late the cruise season actually runs!
Also is there a particular reason you want Gold rather than stay as a silver?
Sometimes the cost of getting it isn’t worth the benefits of having it.

Why ill defined? End of year is 31 December. We all have the same EC end date since the changes this year and I am including those. Thanks

I have been Gold previously and happy with silver but it seems a bit of a missed opportunity if I am this close. Don’t need a reason just fancy doing it.
I think the question is also what do you mean by this year ie 2024, your current TP year or 1st april 2024 to 31st March 2025 for the new TP year change. The new EC year is April to March not calendar years.
Sounds like you’re not doing it because you have another big flight coming up so maybe if you give a clue on when someone could suggest a decent priced TP run
Sofia isn’t really that cheap £370 ish in business for 160 isn’t bad but unless you want to go there it’s not worth it purely as a TP run
You’ve got choices ex EU on QR like OSL-DOH-AUH for about £1k but that’ll be more like 400 TP so not relevant here.
I’m with you I’d push for Gold because simply there’s the soft landing to Silver which is valuable and you don’t have to worry about TPs for a couple years +
Boston is a great city and has a daytime BOS-LHR flight.
The BOS BA lounge is also very good with a gate directly to the plane.
Malta has plenty of hotel choices.
Nice can be great off season.
If you are a bit of a foodie San Sebastian is great. BA flights from LCY.I think the question is also what do you mean by this year ie 2024, your current TP year or 1st april 2024 to 31st March 2025 for the new TP year change. The new EC year is April to March not calendar years.

Love Nice. So easy from LCY too.

Under the new system end of collection year is 31st March not 31st of December And some people are still in transition.
If your current status year ends on 31st December it means your current collection year ends on the 8th November.
This is why the dates matter.

Sorry should have been clearer. Want to try and get it done before the end of the calendar year as I fancy a few nice pre-xmas trips. I understand the difference between Tier Point collection year and calendar year just suits me to do it in the next couple of months.
I have a few trips in 2025 but just fancy getting this ticked off. Not logical I know 😃
BTW Milan LINate is back as a destination from LCY, one flight per day except Saturday.
@achoogirl, I am with you on this. I deliberately booked the BAH’s between my year end (July) and now to get maximum time at gold then soft landing to silver. Of course BA has now taken some of that away with the changes but I still hopefully won’t need to think about TPs until Q2 2027.
Remember LIN, NCE, EAS etc will only get 40 TPs, whereas ATH, SOF, MLA etc will get 80.

Ok thanks. My current TP collection year is July so my points have been adjusted already to take into account the change. I just fancy getting Gold by end of the calendar year.
It’s unlikely you’ll get a good “TP run” fare in the next couple months but if it’s about actually having a break to a couple nice destination there was a winter markets thread with some good suggestions.
Google flights is going to be your friend.
Sometimes I’ve booked eco one way and business the other and took a chance on a cheap upgrade offer popping up.
PE to Middle East or east coast is an option for 90 TP each way.

Thanks. I am after location ideas not necessarily good fares (although so much better if I can find both)! I will fly business not PE or Economy. Did consider UAE but have been there so many times. Fancy somewhere new.
But value is in our DNA here 😂
Have you considered Bermuda instead of east coast USA (same TPs, similar journey time)? It’s incredibly pretty and the weather’s pleasant (though not hot) throughout the winter months.

I felt a bit princessy typing that!! Bermuda is a fantastic idea and under 7 hours I could do a nice long weekend. Even better if there is an IHG I could use my ‘free’ night for Thank you.
