Seeking recommendations for hotels in the Tuscany countryside in June for 3 nights (between 3 nights at a wedding and 3 nights in Florence). Finding quite a few out there but most have ridiculous prices (ideally looking at no more than £400 a night!).

Does anyone have any personal experiences that they could recommend which would act as a good base for wine tasting and exploring the Tuscany small towns and countryside?

I enjoyed my stay at villalebarone.com.

It is about 1 hours drive south of Florence.

Not a hotel (and in the middle of nowhere) but some years ago we stayed at Fattoria Casa Sola, midway between Florence and Siena. Given it’s on a vineyard, you can’t get closer to the wine!

The Country House Montali. It suits atop a hill in the Umbrian countryside with views over Lago Tresimeno. The hotel revolves around it’s restaurant, where the chef is a fairly well known vegetarian chef. It’s amongst a fig and Vine grove and has a lovely pool.

My wife and I stayed for a week a number of years ago and it was delightful. Neither of us are vegetarian but quite frankly loved the food and didn’t notice the lack of meat in our diets.

The website suggests it’s shut (it did close during the pandemic) but recent reviews suggest it’s open. I anticipate it’ll be €130-180 pppn for DB&B.
