Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Two companion vouchers

  • 1 post

    Afternoon all.

I have now earned two reward vouchers through my Virgin Atlantic credit card over the past two years, and also have around 77,000 points. I’ve never flown Virgin before – so just a red tier member.

Firstly, is it possible that I can use both vouchers for my partner and I on the same return flight? Can I purchase a flight using points (and pay taxes), use one voucher to upgrade to premium, and then use the second as a companion voucher?

I understand that vouchers can be transferred at silver or gold levels, but as stated I’m only red so don’t think that is an option.

What’s the best way to use two vouchers plus points on a single flight? We’re planning to start a family soon, so the likelihood of being able to use the vouchers over two flights is unlikely.

    Thanks in advance!

You need to call Virgin, they can do what you’re asking as long as you get an experienced agent. Obviously you’ll need enough points, but I’m guessing you’ve worked this out already.

Unfortunately you can’t double dip to combine vouchers for upgrade and a companion seat simultaneously as I think you are suggesting.

However what you can do is use both vouchers to upgrade two return seats on the same booking.

Upgrades from Premium to UC (in reality booking UC for the normal Premium points) are the sweet spot.

However, the 77,000 points may be a limiting factor in doing an UC return depending on where and when you want to go. It would be enough for an off-peak (standard) Caribbean or NE US return if you can find availablity.

Alternatively you could use them to fly Premium one way and UC the other. You have enough points to do that on off-peak dates to most Virgin destinations other than the SW US.

Also worth adding… Don’t do this if you decide to book a return in Premium. In that case you are better off using one voucher for a companion seat, even if the other one expires.
