We are on a one-way flight LHR-MIA in March – booked Premium Economy.
It’s flying the Airbus A350-1000
We can upgrade to UC for 15,000 points and £220 per person.
Would you for a one-way daytime (dep 3.50pm) flight?
We’d only have an hour or so in the UC Lounge so not a big draw in itself.
My heart says yes but the head keeps telling me it’s still £440 lol
If your head is saying ‘no’, then don’t, add the £220 to your spending money pot.
The lack of lounge time would bother me, however that is not a bad deal at all for a flight of that length, especially when you consider Virgin’s painful surcharges on award bookings normally!
Just out of interest, do they post these offers in your booking?
Depends how comfortable you are sitting for the duration of the flight. Young and sprightly folk are much more comfortable in PE than those with aches and pains that may like to lie down.

I don’t know if it’s me, or what, but I’ve never found the surcharges to be too high on VS routes, and I’ve flown not far off all of theirs now! I appreciate there is probably a chunk of privilege in my comment here, plus the fact that I am often a solo traveller, which lessens the total cost.
Offers are sometimes posted, but you can sometimes get them by calling, or they might email you, or you’ll get a call, or at the airport…
MIA is an interesting one. I don’t upgrade to UC on East Coast flights as a rule of thumb, but the price you’ve got there – and the fact it’s ten hours rather than eight or so – would make me think about it. A351s are lovely, and UC is nice, but I love the A351 PE, too.
Head vs heart is at the core of the human condition. One way to think about it: if you don’t take this offer, will you have a chance to do it in future? To give you an idea, a West Coast upgrade is about £500ish taxes.

They don’t offer you the upgrade.
There IS a cash upgrade BID section but that was a min of £500 at the lowest end so no guarantee of getting it.
I knew they had a sale 9n on used Chat function to ask.
