Hi all,
I’m flying from Chennai to LHR tomorrow morning on BA0036 but cannot download my boarding passes on the app or a pc.
Usually this is not an issue as I would drop my luggage at the desk inside the airport but India requires a barcode as evidence of the booked flight before you can even access the inside of the airport.
Is it because we need to show our visa details?
I’ve tried multiple ways and do have a hard copy of my flight details but has anyone had this experience in India before.
The flight is full and the booking is a 241 Avios booking so I’m apprehensive that we may be bumped.
Any help would be appreciated.
Yes likely they want to see your visa and passport
Printed flight details will be fine as evidence you have a flight.

Thanks for the reassurance.
BA chat have just told me to collect the boarding pass at the desk IN the airport but I couldn’t see how to do that without a pass to get INTO the airport itself.
Thanks again.
Barcode is not necessary. Just the flight ticket where the name matches your passport is fine.
Tickets on mobile app are also accepted.
Quick update – we did gain entry to the airport just by showing a ticket receipt.
Now sitting in the lounge awaiting our flight back to sunny UK…
Last month in Bangalore, they refused us entry to the airport with ticket recept and we could not check in online with indigo as foreigners, there was a small kiosk outside who did it. Indian airports are some of the worst experiences I have seen recently.

I had a similar bad experience at BOM. The idea that foreign airlines might not actually issue a physical ticket or boarding pass with QR to passengers doesn’t seem to have crossed the minds of those planning the entry to the terminal. Some warning from the airline itself about these bizarre arrangements would have been welcome too.

@memesweeper how did you get round this?

Strange, I passed through a few airports there recently and had no issues showing the ticket on my mobile.
Instead of showing them the email, show them the ticket on the airline app as it’s clear and easy to read. All they want to verify is the date of flight and match the name on ticket to an identity card.

They wanted the ticket bar code, so stuck without checking online.
Similarly, you can’t move between departure and arrivals at all at delhi airport and there is a land side lounge on the arrival floor!
Really feels like travelling 20 years ago.
