Hope someone can shed some light on this.

I secured a companion voucher using the British Airways American Express card, not realising it was economy only.

I have upgraded the card to a British Airways Premium Plus American Express card, can I immediately start spending on this to secure a companion voucher or is it classed as the same card year even though it is a different card albeit on the same account?
