Here’s the thing. We have now had some credits from U.K. and overseas dining. Are they now subtracted from the 4K spend. We are trying to total up our near 4K spend, but it’s got meal credits/debits/a refund or two, timing accidental from the PRG. And no tracker at all….and nothing on the statement, but fee charged. Any thoughts pls?
I wouldn’t risk it. I’d personally wait for the Platinum card to arrive. Mine took 2 days from application to arrive.
Recent data point: Upgraded from Gold to Plat. No spend progress bar. 40k MR points arrived as soon as I hit £4k spend.
Already used my £150 foreign dining credit for a lovely meal in Barcelona. Now I need to plan some weekend trips into London to use the Harvey Nichols (eat at Burger & Lobster) & the UK Dining offer.
Ugh I hit the £4k spend but no points…. no tracker either
Have you waited a few days? Tracker is intermittent dont be alarmed

Also would like to know…
If I exclude credits from AMEX offers then I’m over £4k spend . If I include credits as “refunds” then I’m under £4k.

Still early days but I am getting a feeling it wont post automatically…
No tracker bar for me yet either. But I haven’t hit the £4k spend yet, so I am hoping the points will post soon after I hit it. If not, I’ll just ride the card’s freebies until February and then cancel (or hopefully get a retention deal!).
No tracker for me either but the 40k bonus posted the same day as the points for the transaction which took me over £4k spend.
I’d previously had bonus points a few years ago for upgrading Gold Charge to Platinum Charge.

Nice!!!
My 40k points posted… I spoke (complained) too soon.
@richard, @Rob has provided clarity on this now – on the main article page https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/08/21/when-is-it-worth-paying-a-fee-for-a-credit-card/#commentsContent:
My question:
“Hi Rob, slightly OT – the free ARCC is allowing upgrades to Platinum too, but the fine print on the page says the 40k MR upgrade is only for upgrades from PRGCC – do you have any insight as to whether this is just an oversight, or if it really is the case that ARCC is excluded from the 40k MR incentive?”
Rob’s response:
“It’s almost certainly excluded. Your average ARCC customer would, in theory, have zero interest in Platinum, whereas Golds are already paying fees in return for benefits.”
Data points
I was a free ARCC account holder, and even though the offer stated upgrade from PRGCC for 40K MR, I clicked on the link anyway, nothing ventured nothing gained etc.
By chance, it seemed to let me upgrade to platinum, bypassing gold, even though ARCC cards generally cannot be upgraded in this way.
It was approved, and received all cards and trappings, dining benefits, HN credit etc.
I tipped the £4k spend a few days ago and wasn’t really expecting much back given that my card was excluded from Ts and Cs above.
I did not have a visual tracker bar in my account
This morning I logged in, and 40,000 MR points had been added
Delighted 😀
May the points be with you Skywalker
Thank you Carlos
I seem to remember you were similarly bestowed earlier on in this thread 😀
Mine credited last week without me asking. There was no tracker.
Any data points on how fast after getting a Gold CC Amex allows upgrading to Platinum?
I was hoping to upgrade straight away for the 40k offer, but was told that I’m not eligible. By doing this I messed up my 24 month reset being 6 month in. Now just waiting for upgrade opportunity but if it takes a year then probably better to cancel and start the 24 month clock again.Any data points on how fast after getting a Gold CC Amex allows upgrading to Platinum?

You need to have held the gold card for a year according to the Amex personnel I spoke to. This is something others here have also heard. Worth noting the t&cs don’t say this (or didn’t when I last checked).
2. The offer is 20k points now, as JDB mentions.Any data points on how fast after getting a Gold CC Amex allows upgrading to Platinum?

It was 40k when I opened Gold CC couple of month ago

I guess I will wait till 1 year anniversary (3 month in) rather than starting a 24 month clockMade a bit of a rookie error here. I upgraded today, and unthinkingly said yes to them also upgrading the supp on my PRG (never used, only got it for the 1000 MRs).
I’m assuming that I can’t now assign the free supplementary card to someone else, nor get 5000 MRs for it?
40K posted. Very happy with that, thanks!
Upgraded from ARCC (which was a PRG around 14 months ago). The upgrade was completely smooth, but I never got the tracker in my Amex app. Suddenly, 40K membership points appeared once I passed the £4k spend. Happy days!
Now Luke use the points and run. Run to Dagobah
@Carlos, I’ve followed yiur explots and discussion on this with amusement and interest 🙂 Is there a deadline for the offer that you are aware of? I’ve ignored it, opting to micromanage my upgrade date next year at a time that best suits me, even if the offer isn’t so good. Now, I’m thinking – jump!
@BJ
Deadline for 40k well passed, end of September if l remember. Now 20k. The only big advantage was if you could use the benefits for 2022 before end Dec. Then again the 2023 benefits early in 23, maybe paying 6 months fees, if even that. Would you have used the foreign 150 dining credit x 2, the HN 50 x 2, U.K. dining 150 x 2 etc etc.
also some were trying to u/g their PRG, but Amex chose to u/g their ARCC instead! Which caused some consternation. However, it’s worked out for those it happened to.
We only jumped in as we could use the foreign dining spend in Singapore in November, and Phuket in February. And even used the One Fine Stay 200 credit. (Been waiting 2 months for that credit to appear) But, we wouldn’t have done the u/g for 20k. The 40k swung it…
PS, the 40 hit yesterday. We had spent way over the 4K, but had so many credits, weren’t sure when the 40k would land. Thanks @Polly, missed that somehow. I’ll now apply April as planned. Hope you’re settled at home and something useful happened for Feb in Qatar sale.

We were in singapore last week and forgot to use the dining credit! 🤦♂️ win some lose some!
One fine stay – wish their footprint was larger!I actually got the offer booklet by post and did the upgrade by scanning the QR code, spent £4k. Now they’re saying there’s not trace of the offer on my upgrade and that if I could upload proof of the offer, but of course I binned the leaflet ages ago. Anyone else in a similar position or still has the booklet?
