I’ve not used a 2-4-1 before and was intrested in using it to the US in F (seats available for the flights required) have read posts about people on 2-4-1 more likely to be bumped or not getting there first choice of meal on board , I know this can happen to anyone , is it likely to happen to a gold member ?
I haven’t seen any posts about people being downgraded from F – it usually seems to be from CW, though this could just be due to F being so rare these days.
@Rob said the other day that they’re bringing back the facility to pre-select meals soon so it may have happened by the time you fly. I’ve been fortunate enough to fly in this cabin 3 times now and they’ve never run out of anything – I think it’s unlikely because it’s such a small cabin.
BA used to over cater F by 50% so if the cabin had 8 seats they’d cater for 12 but there would still only be 12 meals in total allocated something like (based on a 4 main menus) 5 for the most popular, 3 for the next then 2 and 2.
A 3 menus main would be something like 6+3+3
As a gold you’re more likely to get your first choice though.
Do downgrades happen then yes they can e.g. there is a broken seat but it’s not as often as some would like to make out.
