Hi. I’ve just got my companion voucher with BA and I would like to use it with Iberia from Madrid to Dallas. I’ve read various threads and I believe I need to make the booking through the BA website. However when I chose flights that are on Iberia from Madrid (not going back to London and then on BA), it looks like I am getting quoted the BA air miles requirement not the Iberia Avios requirement. The reason I want to go via Iberia is because it will use a lot fewer Avios than using BA. What am I Missing? Any advice would be appreciated?
Doesn’t seem like you’re missing anything.
Can you post the Avios + cash being quoted and the flights in question so we can work out where the problem may be occurring.
@Lammiepie – are you maybe seeing the price for a routing via London if there’s no availability on the Iberia direct route?
I’ve had the BA site playing up a lot over the past few days when I’ve been making some redemption bookings, quoting much higher cash elements than normal. I’ve waited 12 – 24 hours each time then managed to get the right pricing.
I did get an IB redemption for lower avios than the IB site was quoting so maybe that was an error in my favour 🤷♀️😂
Thank you for the feedback. I was being an idiot! I have done some searches this morning and I can get the trip with 90k avios + £450 from Madrid, but if I go from London (on BA) it costs me 190k avios + £950.
