Hi,
Probably a newbie question but I didn’t find the answer in the Redemption University: my partner and I each have a BAPP companion voucher. We’d like to book a redemption for our family of 4 (with our 2 children). However, I can only select my own voucher when logged into my account. How can I apply both vouchers in the same booking so we only need half the avios for the whole group?
Thanks!
You’ll need to make two bookings: one for one parent and child; and a second for the second parent and child. Even a household account won’t fix this.
That’s what I feared. Any chance to make it into 1 booking if I call BA call centre? I may have to call them to book an open-jaw anyway.
No, I’m afraid not. They might claim they’ll put a note in the file linking the bookings but that is pretty much worthless.
If you had two vouchers in your account then all four of you could be on one booking.
It can be a pain having two separate PNRs as I’m sure you know as far as seating (with kids) and in the event of a flight interruption.
Depending how concerned about it and how Avios rich you are, you might consider booking for all four of you, only applying you voucher (so using Avios for three tickets) and then next year when your partner has two vouchers use these for all four of you. The following year you’d have two vouchers etc.
No they won’t make it into one booking. There’s really no issue making separate bookings, if you’re worried about the seats going, do it simultaneously on 2 devices. Though as you say, if it’s an open jaw trip you may have to call at some point.
Alternatively, if one of you can earn another voucher really quickly, that person could make a booking for 4 of you using both vouchers on one PNR.
*We’ve been travelling like this for years and never had any major problems.
To echo @northernlass’s comment, I don’t think we’ve ever travelled as a family on one PNR on Avios. Seat selection is a pain (or a cost, which we refuse to pay!) as only I have any useful status, but it’s otherwise fine. And when two seats open up in F, it’s actually useful 🙂
Thanks all!
There was no way we could earn another voucher quickly, just not enough avios to use only 1 voucher and we really wanted to secure the flights (LON-MEX in Club World next summer), so I went ahead with 2 separate bookings. Had to call BA to make it an open-jaw (departure from PAR), and they linked both bookings, for what it’s worth.
