Forums Other Destination advice Vancouver Amex Platinum Abroad dining recommendation

  • RCHammer 71 posts

I know the Amex Platinum changes are being discussed exhaustively elsewhere but I am after specific recommendations for dining options on a trip to Vancouver next year. I would like the new £100 credit to cover most of the cost of a meal for me and my wife. Given the Amex tendency to “curate”, as they put it, expensive fine dining restaurants does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere on the list of Vancouver restaurants where one can get a decent evening meal that is value for money, i.e. where the £100 credit could reasonably cover most of the cost of the meal for two.

I went to Vij’s (Indian) in the summer and it was excellent. Credit posted quickly too.

We used our credits at The Nightingale and the Carlino, both were excellent food and not silly expensive.

Thanks both! I had looked at Vij’s and that was on my shortlist but will look at the Nightingale and Carlino

I went to Nightingale this year, it’s a small plates concept, we had more than enough food, four rounds, and had enough to leave an 80CAD tip. Little bit loud and trendy in there for my usual tastes, but it was a nice venue and a good evening.

+1 for Nightingale. We went last summer with our two kids (17 & 21), very memorable evening. Food was cracking, reasonably priced, vibrant atmosphere.

We had lunch for two of us at The Hawksworth in January this year, total cost £130 including a cocktail each. Excellent food and attentive service, would recommend and go back again, also a great location directly opposite Vancouver Art Gallery.

Thank you for the excellent info everyone. A few for me to look at more closely 😀
