Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Very high prices do come down

As an experiment I put a Seat Spy seat alert on business flights to and from a Carribean island over Xmas 25. The flight out first became available at 350k points. Stayed there for a fortnight then began to come down by odd amounts. Now down at 245k. Still ludicrously overpriced compared to BA rates of 135k but shows how the algo reflects lack of interest from a savvy U.K. points market at such ridiculous levels.
    Will keep you informed..

I also noticed after reading a post on another thread that MAN-MCO was released at 350k points for UC the other day, but then the next day had dropped to 150k, so maybe VS are testing the waters to see if there are any points-rich customers rushing to secure seats as soon as they’re released.

Conversely I’ve seen some cheaper seats on other dates go up in price.

Another day another 5k off the price.down to 240k now. They’re obviously still finding no takers. All that money promoting this scheme to discover surprise ,surprise , that their customers can’t or won’t pay their prices. I can get to Caribbean same dates AF with my Virgin points for about same price as BA. Can’t be arsed to wait for the oh so clever algo to come to the market reality so it’s AF for me. Oh and what’s so special about the Clubhouse? Just another big crowded lounge.
