I’ve got a long weekend in Lisbon in November, currently booked the Intercontinental on points. Just went back to check if the points value had gone down, and spotted a new hotel on the IHG website for a similar number of points: Vignette Convent Square Hotel.
At face value, this looks like a better location than the IC and is of course going to be brand new. Does anyone know anything about this hotel, or perhaps what it used to be so that I can look at some photos?
Furthermore, where does the new “Vignette” brand sit compared to the IC – is it supposedly higher/lower/on a par in terms of “luxury” ?
Yes, it’s more centrally located, but still a big hill to climb to get to the main areas. So, not much different to IHG. Bear in mind that standard rooms at Convent Square is 19sqm. The IC basic rooms are 34smq. The communal areas at the IC are big but nothing special. Vignette may be nicer. Depends what is important for you.
The park the IC overlooks is where the touriat buses leave from. I found with a 48hr ticket I could just hop on a bus to get me back up to Marques de Pombal.
