From 30th October 2024 you’ll be able to use your Virgin Points for any seat onboard, giving you limitless choice and flexibility when planning your next trip. So, the only thing left to think about will be where you’ll land next.

They’re your points after all, and you should have the freedom to use them whenever you like, no matter how popular or last-minute your chosen flight is. So, from 30th October, every seat onboard, on any date, will be available to pay for with Virgin Points. With prices that vary based on demand, just like money, you’ll be able to search for any flight you like and see the cost in points or pounds.

    Introducing Saver reward seats
Our new Saver reward seats will be available across thousands of flights. And they will start from prices even lower than reward seats today, with flights to New York from just 6,000 points* one way.

Whether you feel like a little extra legroom or going all-out in Upper Class, upgrading with points will be easier too, whether you bought your original seat with points or money.  Upgrade to any available Premium or Upper Class seat to enjoy a touch of the high life.  How many points you need to upgrade will also vary based on demand.

    Reward vouchers with more flex
With simplified ways to use your Flying Club reward vouchers earned through your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card, Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard® or Gold status, you’ll be able to treat yourself or a companion any time you like, on any flight you fancy.

Companion and Upgrade vouchers earned through your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card or your Gold Status are being simplified. They will all be known as Flying Club reward vouchers, with a maximum points value that can be used against any seat purchase or upgrade. For more info, head to our dedicated voucher page.

Thanks for the heads up. Not read it all so don’t know what it means for surcharges, but it may be bad news for cc voucher holders, I need to digest it some more!

*HFP article in the offing, I presume 🤷‍♀️

Turns out article was posted just before my forum post, but there’s no information about the charges and the vouchers are covered on the VS website link.

Today’s virgin redemption university article, ‘what’s the best non-flying use of virgin points?’ is beautifully timed. Can’t be coincidence surely?

looks like I’ll be buying a lot of wine advent calendars this year.

No mention of any changes to the partner redemptions

Any idea how this will impact changes to current award bookings?

So I have a reward booking and want to change the return…

I think Virgin Cola ran out of fizz some years ago but there will probably be something similar in the advent calendars this year at wine prices. Or maybe ‘surprise’ contents like BA WineFlyer.

Before the 30th of Oct, no. After, probably

    Last year’s was surprisingly acceptable

As it happens, this might suit me as currently no availability but suppose it really depends on what pricing will be. I assume it won’t be kind to us. Cash flights currently at £1650pp in Y.

The value of the cc voucher will depend on your Virgin status. That sucks, given that everyone has to spend the same amount to get it! Includes vouchers already earned.

*Just seen that Rob & Rhys have already heeded my plea!

Feel sorry for Rob, he was just saying last week he wasn’t able to spend the million or two virgin points.

With VS having apparently once again rogered the passengers, Virgin seems an increasingly inapt name.

Just called flying club to use a voucher and points. Was advised that cancellation would be moving to £70 for bookings made after 30th October.

    Is that pp?!

    Is that pp?!

Someone on another forum posted it was per person but not effective until 31st October so might give people a 1 day window to amend flights at £30pp if you can get through on the phone.

What are people’s thoughts on when the seats will be ‘live’.
I missed out earlier this month on some of the guaranteed seats for a redemption next year, presumably because I didn’t stay up till midnight to grab them.
Do we think that at 00:01 on 30th October the system will be live and all the extra seats will show? I know there is no chance of missing seats under the new scheme but with dynamic pricing I want to book at the earliest opportunity, dependant on the new pricing levels of course.

Having read the dedicated threads on securing VS reward seats, I think they’re usually more likely to appear at 5 am than midnight (UK time, anyway). No idea what will happen with the new system though!

Yes, I’ve seen the same and wondering do I stay up till midnight, or get up at 5am. Whatever I choose will be the wrong option 🤣
