Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Converting Virgin miles to Avios

  • 1 post

    Newbie here!

Can anyone recommend the best process to change virgin miles to avios.

Reading an article it suggests virgin > ihg > avios.

Just wondering if there is anything better than this.

    Thanks in advance.

Possible but not really sensible given the 80% loss of value.

From Thursday Virgin will be in SkyTeam and you can fly virtually anywhere in the world with Virgin Points. Using what you have for a one way, possible back on Avios, makes more sense.

For small amounts, download the Virgin Red app and redeem them for bits and pieces through that.

Yep really hoping this opens up some good redemptions going east with eg China Airlines and Korean, possibly Vietnam too, will be interested to see what deals to be had here with hopefully not too high fees.

Not helpful here, but I did at one point manage to earn Avios from Virgin Atlantic flights, by crediting them to BMI Diamond Club and subsequently then to Avios following the acquisition.

These days if you’re likely to travel to any of the destinations that Virgin serves, the easiest way of getting maximum value is via the Virgin Atlantic credit card, signing up for the bonus (especially during one of the occasional enhanced offers) and spending £10K for a voucher either to discount the points required to the next lowest cabin (best for UC redemptions especially if you’re the lowest Red status) or two for the points of one (Economy / PE redemptions).
