The thing is, it’s just not open to individual tourism as we know it – business travellers, students, foreign workers, group tourists (which can include a group of 1 person and a guide). The process of getting a visa in the UK can be a nightmare, but if you know someone that can invite you and with a bit more planning, it’s not impossible. They’ve removed quarantine and tests on arrival for most countries and that’s all we can expect until 2023.
Discussing this conundrum on the beach with my corporate lawyer travelling companion (aka bikini lawyers.com) she makes a valid and sensible point. Given you now have a new ticketed flight you also have new EC Regs rights free standing in relation to your new flight so even if the original settlement is frustrated (I don’t know) you have your powerful EC rights again anyway so ask for a new convenient date under the EC regs as well as asserting breach of the settlement agreement!
That’s a good point, but only if he was re-ticketed! Hope they’re better than BA in that regard.
