Looking at £1480 for 2 for a return LHR to JFk in July this year. I’m sure it used to be closer to £1k..
In aug 2020 I paid £1371 for 2 F seats to JFK for July 21, rebooked using an FTV in dec 21 for July 22 to/from EWR and got a tax refund of £18. So around £1353
December 2021 Companion fare CW LHR-AUS return paid £1351.04. Same flights next weekend cost is £1269.74 but used a companion voucher wrapped in an FTV for a cancelled LHR- MAN return flight booked to preserve expiring voucher, so difficult to compare.
Not sure it’s quite what you’re after as it’s mixed class but I booked one way LHR-BOS for travel in September 2022 in September 2021 for a cash element of £906.94 for two passengers (with a companion voucher). Then added on a return in CW for another £442.40 a few weeks later.
London – Maldives – London booked in October 2021 was £616.17 per person in taxes and surcharges for club world
£1349.34 for LHR-SFO outbound and LAX-LHR inbound, so £674.67 each. Booked late September 2021.
Think the first time I flew Club long haul the total taxes and fees were sub £250 person back in 2006, but my memory may be failing me these days…. And I think I got a partial refund on that as well thanks to a fuel surcharge scandal of some sort – details lost in the mists of time now!
Thanks for your help with this. Keep an eye out for an article on Monday.
Other data points all club world return booked in September- October 2021
London – Dubai £544.97
London – Toronto £663.97
London – Mexico City £698.27Quite a few data points for Tokyo as we desperately try to rebook our trip:
£1232.28 for 2 adults and an infant return booked March 2020
£1239.08 for 2 adults and an infant return booked October 2020
£1538.48 for 4 (3 adults and 1 child) one way to Tokyo booked March 2021 for this March.
£2256 for 4 (3 adults and 1 child) return to Tokyo booked March 2021 for this March (can’t find the email to get the exact pence amount).
62.07 to add an infant in Nov 2021
I moved the flight again in December 2021 and they wanted an extra ~£68 I think across all the passengers but haven’t processed it yet (apparently I need to call them back about this but not gotten around to that…)
And trawling my emails also turned up a comparison in Nov 2013 – 2 adults return to Tokyo was £1169.90
