Want to book MCO – NYC There are plenty of cash flights available (next July) according to Skyscanner, but none of the Delta flights come up VA’s site. even the cash ones.
Any thoughts
TIA
I’ve found that the Virgin site shows reward availability on DL, but not cash. No issues booking ATL-FLL recently for next March.
What’s your travel date? Could they just be sold out?
I’m seeing a 6am departure on July 1st for 11k points plus $6.
Do you want to pay with points or cash, it’s not totally clear from your post? If cash, can you not just book via DL’s website?
I don’t think VS is able to sell standalone DL cash flights just as BA can’t sell stand-alone AA cash flights.
Points yes but cash no.
Virgin can only sell you cash tickets for Delta as a connection from a transatlantic flight, not a standalone segment. This is common to most airlines.
There is quite a lot of availability on that route during July but it’s limited to Tu/We/Thu only which are effectively off peak travel days in the US.
Use the DL site to search, say you using skymiles and then any day that has availability in the Basic category you’ll see equivalent on the VS site. Virgin’s price calendar option does work as well, see here:
@davefl, I’ve seen plenty of Basic not available on VS.

Typically if it’s not a direct flight, I should have written Basic, 1 segment only.
@davefl, Umm maybe I’m doing something wrong but take ATL-MCO / 1 Apr. That’s available on basic for all AM departures but VS only showing PM. Is that right?
@ekposh I think it’s because the web IT is crap, but the call centre may be able to book the AM ones.

I’ll give it a go, thanks. Though I’ve also checked on Flying Blue and not showing there either, so maybe there is a sub-class of some sort.
Honestly it’s often easier to throw Amex MR points to DL, and do it that way.
13 July is the date – not bothered if points (depending how many) or cash

Found me searching incorrectly D’oh
@SteveR If you’re happy to pay cash just book the delta flight on delta.com and credit it to Virgin. You’ll get 3/5th of F’all in terms of tier points/VS points on an economy flight, but that’s the best way and you can just pick which of the umpteen flights a day suit you.
