Hi,
I have the Barclaycard Avios Plus card and my yearly spending reward target date is 6th Oct 2023 for the cabin upgrade voucher. I’m on around £5,000 of the £10,000 target spend at the moment.
My question is, if I downgrade today to the free Barclaycard Avios card, will my yearly spending reward target date stay as 6th Oct 2023 and target spend becomes £5,000 of £20,000?
Thanks in advance.
No. When you downgrade, you get a new account with a new card number and accounting year. You would be starting again. The only thing that stays the same is your statement date and credit limit.
If you keep the Avios Plus card until you have spent £10k, you can then downgrade and get a new year and target.
I got my £10K voucher in June 22 on the Avios Plus card. I then downgraded, and got a second voucher in November 22 for spending £20k on the free card.

That’s a great idea, thanks. I’ll hit £10,000 to trigger the voucher first, then downgrade and restart the accounting year and spending target then as you did.
