Hilton has launched a new promotion for its European hotels.

It is not valid for UK properties, but does cover hotels in Spain, France, Netherlands, Italy, Greece etc.

Sa Torre Mallorca

You need to book by May 20th but you can stay at any point during the rest of 2013.  That said, there were plenty of dates blacked out when I checked the Hilton Sa Torre in Mallorca, above.

The link to book is here.  The small print says that a one-night deposit is required at the time of booking, but a sample booking I tested was fully flexible up to 3 days before arrival.

If you look at other Hiltons around Gatwick (or even within Greater London), none of them seems to be offering this SUPER SUMMER SALE offer. Therefore, I think this could be a local Hilton LGW offer.

(EDIT: I got the numbers wrong first time, as other commentators pointed out. Now corrected.)

No point applying for the credit card as it won’t arrive in time.

Hilton is a complex scheme. You have 3 earning options, which you must preselect online:

    Points & Points – 15 points per $1
Points & Fixed Miles – 10 points per $1 plus 500 Avios per stay (if you select BA as airline partner)
    Points & Variable Miles – 10 points per $1 plus 1 Avios per $1

One stay is unlikely to get you enough points for a free night, but if you will do further Hilton stays then you may want to take points. It depends how much you are spending as to whether option 2 or option 3 is better for you.

Note that if you collect Virgin miles it is twice as generous, you get 2 miles per $1 or 1000 miles per stay.

Click on the ‘Hotel Promos’ tag at the top of the blog to see how to sign up for the current Hilton promo of 1000 bonus points per night.

If its a work trip, as Ben said, he may not have the option … or even if he can book his own room, he may not like the idea of secretly pocketing the hotels.com kickback at his employers expense.

Of course, Ben should have no worries about a guilt trip if he books his Hilton room via my affiliate link in the right-hand menu 😉 (joke!)

    • Alan says:

Hehe, no I think you’ve just spotted the deliberate mistake from Raffles to make sure we were all paying attention 😉

Agree rates should be 10 base points per USD for all earning options, with 5 bonus for p+p and variable/fixed miles slightly different for some airlines but gen as described. Silver get an extra 1.5 points, Gold get extra 2.5 points per USD and Diamond 5 extra per USD (ie 20 points total per USD on p+p)

      • Rob says:

Sorry, my bad, wrote that response off the top of my head whilst sitting in a café.

    • Ben E says:

You’re right Raffles – work trip and I’d have to go with the work-agreed rates. Credit card is personal and expensed, though, so at least I get cc points for that. Looking at the responses seems ideal is to sign up and get 1000pt promo and then go for points and points?
