Shangri-La in The Shard to open on May 6th – time for those free drinks ….

Shangri-La has announced that its luxury hotel in The Shard in London will open on May 6th.  This is a modest nine years after it was first announced!  Reservations will be possible from March 17th.

Note, though, that the bar on Level 52 will not open until July 1st.

The reason I mention this, of course, is that many Head for Points readers – probably a few hundred! – are sitting on $100 per person of vouchers for free drinks and food at Shangri-La hotels following their promotion last year.

There are various eating and dining options.  GŎNG on level 52 will be the highest bar in London.  It apparently takes its name from ‘dougong’, the ancient Chinese structural element of interlocking wooden brackets that will be a feature of the bar’s interior.

TĪNG is the Chinese restaurant and lounge on level 35 and LÁNG will be a deli on the ground floor.

It is important to note that Shangri-La may still bring in some restrictions on the use of vouchers in some restaurants and bars – it already does at a couple of other hotels.  We won’t know until nearer the time.  I will also remind you of the procedure for booking and collecting your $100 vouchers as the opening date gets closer.

I’ve kept mine for a night at the Traders Hotel Manila, that’s at least an £80-90 value.

    Thanks Raffles!

So, just to double check for those of us who ended up with 800 points rather than 1000 is there any quick and simple way to earn the extra 200 points?
