Nick said in his entry that he wanted to take his wife to the Gran Melia in Rome and he tells me that this is still his top choice.   I didn’t know anything about this hotel to be honest, but having had a look at the website (and the photo above) it looks very impressive – an urban resort with large gardens just five minutes from the Vatican.

A weekend in June would set you back £430 per night with breakfast, so Nick has got an excellent result.
