Craziest Tesco deal ever? 62 Avios for every 0.9p spent!

  I received my Tesco order yesterday and called Tesco Groceries customer helpline on 0800 3234040.
  They confirmed that the promotional CC points (5151) will be added before the next statement is due (and this confirmation is all logged on their system) 🙂

    If you believe that, you’ll believe anything 😉

    CS always claim that promotional points will be added at the quarter end – but actually Grocery promotional points are ALWAYS added within 24 hrs and show on your receipt immediately.

    You could try & get it in writing which might improve your chances when they don’t appear at the quarter end (which they won’t.) At that point you could produce the email and take it further.

  On our rubbish NHS computers, the ‘Older Comments’ link doesn’t work so I can’t scroll back through past comments – from what I can make out on this page, no-one is getting the points on deliveries – is that right? Would anyone be so kind as to give me brief overview?

  My order acknowledgement showed the bonus points on my 99 okra last night.

    To all the people getting irate because they didn’t get 000s of points for spending a few pence lets put this in perspective. We knew it wasn’t guaranteed. It doesn’t state that the offer is 25 points per item anywhere in store. The only indication you might get 25 points per item is when you pick by quantity online (due to a glitch in the software) but specifying quantity is only an instruction for the pickers and the price per item is only a guide price – the legal price is the price per kg and you are charged by weight as one item.
    Tesco is not obliged to give you 25 points per item and those that have received this have benefited from an error in their favour or a goodwill gesture on the part of customer service. It is not an entitlement.
    So feel free to chance your luck, but please do so in good humour. We are abusing their offer by pushing it to the limit but if we can keep it good natured were more likely to succeed this time and on any future similar occasions.

      Don’t get me wrong, I 100% see this as a bonus and not an entitlement – I’m just curious whether it’ll work. I’ve ended up buying some nice green tea drinks I can’t buy in-store, so it’s not the end of the world if I don’t get them. Certainly a worthwhile gamble.

  I decided to lower my order from 99 chilies to just a handful. When the delivery showed up there were no bonus points at all, but I called customer service and asked about the 200 missing points and they credited me immediately, no questions, whole thing took about 30 seconds. I assume it would have been harder if I had been asking for thousands of points.

  I was informed by Clubcard helpline that std. points and bonus points (from eCoupons) display on order receipt.
  Promotional CC points get added in a batch before your next statement is due.

  I spoke to someone at the tesco call centre and they said they would look into this, then used the e-mail live chat system on the tesco website, and the guy said whatever points are in the confirmation e-mail, that is the points that will be received, so I am all good for 825 points from my grocery order.

    Did you receive any bonus points on delivery? For example did they just group the 99 chillies and give you 25 points for the lot? If so I imagine crediting more points would involve a manual override? I guess I don’t understand why they would credit some points immediately and the rest later.

    By the way, a penny for a chilli seems great value. They freeze easily and you can use them straight from the freezer, so no need to throw them away. Chilli oil, harissa… There are plenty of uses for them even if you don’t get the points

  Cancelled mine, there is ample evidence that they aren’t going to honour it. Made a new order for 1 x each of the 6 veggies and some bits I need. 150 points is not exactly 2500 but better than nothing!

  I got my delivery this morning and I got given substitutes for the 20 Okra and 40 chillies I’d ordered. I should have got 1,748 clubcard points, but got about 300. I’ll phone them on the basis that if I’d accepted their substitutes they would have been about £30 out of pocket.

  Just had a call from Tesco supermarket. I was asked if I had ordered 99 chillies in which I replied yes. They then said they were sorry but there had been a powercut issue at the store and they in fact don’t have any chillies in stock anymore despite the systems saying they did.

  She also apologised for the fact that they have taken my money for the delivery charge already which will need to be refunded back to me!! WHAT!
