Le Club Accorhotels, the loyalty scheme for Novotel, Sofitel, Ibis, Mercure, M Gallery, Pullman etc, has launched a very generous promotion which could allow you to earn a significant number of miles.

You will earn £140 of Accor hotel vouchers or 10,000 Avios points (or 5,000 miles in another airline scheme) if you complete three two-night stays at Accor properties before December 31st.

You will receive an additional 1,500 points if all your stays are booked by this Friday 11th September.

If you can’t book by Friday for the extra bonus, you must book your stays by September 20th.  Even super-cheap £25 weekend rooms booked under the ‘Happy Mondays’ offer will count!

Stays must not be consecutive stays at the same hotel. Booking two back-to-back stays of two nights at the same property would not count as two stays, only one.

You MUST register for this promotion via the offer website.

Existing bookings made before yesterday do NOT count.

Ibis Budget, Formule 1 and Etap hotels do not participate in Le Club Accorhotels although standard Ibis and Ibis Styles hotels are OK.

Accor 10000 points promo

The bonus is dropped into your account in the form of 10,000 Le Club Accorhotels points. Your first stay comes with 1,000 bonus points, your second comes with 4,000 points and your third 5,000 points. This means that two things happen which are not explained on the promotional website:

When you reach 10,000 points you will be given Gold status in the Le Club Accorhotels programme as your bonus points count for status. This page on the Accor website shows you the points you need for each tier and the benefits received.

Instead of taking the £140 of vouchers – which in reality will be €200 although they are advertising it as £140 – you can convert your 10,000 bonus points (plus base points) into airline miles. For the main programmes I write about, the conversion rates are:

Flying Blue 2:1

Avios.com or BA: 2:1

Iberia Avios: 1:1 (so don’t convert to BA!)

Emirates: 2:1

Etihad: 2:1

Miles & More: 2:1

By converting to Avios in the Iberia programme, you are effectively ‘paying’ 2 Eurocents per Avios compared to taking the Accor hotel vouchers. You should therefore consider whether to take the Avios or the vouchers – if you can use the hotel vouchers it may be a better deal.

PS. If you have an American Express Platinum card, remember that you can apply for a free Accor Platinum card. This guarantees you executive lounge access (if the hotel has one) plus a large base points bonus on every stay, among other benefits.

  1. I have to book business travel through my corporate travel agency and I pay the hotel directly when I stay and get reimbursed. I’ve had credit for stays this way – should I get the point from promo in the same way?

    Also if anyone knows what’s right here? – I recently booked via online travel agency and stayed 4 nights at a Sofitel and did not receive points or stay recognised so my number of nights stayed this year has not increased – tried to speak with someone at Accor but was on hold for ages

    • From my experience you won’t get the promotion bonus. I had the normal stay points posted but not the promo points.

    • Yes, if you get stay credit it will count for the promo.

      If you booked via an OTA (eg Expedia, Travelocity) you get NOTHING. Accor, Hilton, IHG, SPG, Hyatt …. NONE of them give credit for OTA bookings. Most also refuse to recognise your status benefits. They hate these people, they hate the 20%+ commission they demand and they will do whatever is necessary to stop you booking with them.

        I couldn’t justify the ACCOR rate when the OTA was throwing in free HB. Booked OTA for Sofitel on The Palm and they did give me an upgrade to a junior suite and lounge access – very nice. Was thinking about taking out AMEX Platinum again for Platinum ACCOR status as mine about to expire but will have to rethink.

  2. If I wanted to book 3 x Rooms for 2 nights at the same time/hotel, would that trigger the 1,000 points or the 10,000?

    P.S. – I am still trying to get the last 5,000 points from the previous promotion…I think it may come down to the fact I booked after 11pm GMT. Has anyone come across this?

    • You would need to look at the rules regarding credit for multiple rooms at the same hotel. All hotels have different rules – SPG lets you credit stay credit for 3 rooms at once, for eg. Hilton gives points for 2 rooms at once BUT only stay credit for one. And so on.

    • Hi Ryan
      I had similar problem regarding the promotion points not posting last time. My booking was made something like 11.40pm UK time and the bonus points did not posted with the stay credit. I did suspect that the time of booking was the reason for the issue.
      I submitted a missing points claim on their website and attached my booking email. Had a unhelpful case agent at first, but luckily after I replied her e-mail, another agent step in and the points were manual credited without any further fuss.

  3. LeClubAccor won’t be coming back. Amex are a joke. I fully expect PP to be removed at some point too. Or, at the very least, become fee-based as opposed to unlimited.

    • I don’t place much value on the hotel loyalty stuff to be honest, but I can see that it’s a big thing for others. My wife and I are both platinum with accor, and on a recent stay we had absolutely zero benefit (it was booked direct). No welcome drink, no upgrade, no early check in, no late checkout. Nothing. Club Carlson is the same really, although it’s slightly better because at least their loyalty scheme is a bit of fun. They aren’t stupid – they don’t guarantee you anything that’s actually of any value.

      However with Accor gone, it really is just a priority pass and a deteriorating insurance product (remember you could get a Club Carlson gold status for free with any Amex a while back, and they status match quite freely too). Unless you travel all the time, that’s not worth £450. And if you travel all the time, you’ll have status with airlines anyway so the priority pass is less useful. I don’t even value it at £200. The sign-up is still great as was the 10,000 MR per supp card offer, but that’s about it. It’s a great card for churning, not keeping.

      The removal of OneWorld status was the big blow. I got a pretty big refund on my annual fee because they were still advertising it heavily at the time I applied for mine, but the benefit has long since disappeared. In fact they still are in some ways (pretty sure my friend’s referral email still mentioned access to over 1,000 lounges, which implies OneWorld status).

  4. Those are worrying developments about LeClub Accor disappearing from Amex Plat benefits.

    It’s not news for Amex to charge a large fee for nothing (look at Centurion customers).

    Possible that Accor want’s to sell it’s paid membership (a separate program active in Asia/Pacific, exactly the region where Accor benefits carry some weight / European hotels are all the same, Novotels are usually with no enchanced rooms to give an upgrade.

    If LeClub Platinum benefit goes, Accor will take a dent as people will simply stop considering it. Their points scheme is fixed and customer service takes months of argument to achieve simple things. The novelty of getting an upgrade at Sofitel wears off and I find that more and more I make decisions on cash basis.

    Accor brought it upon themselves by not providing any interesting features/making rewards scheme difficult. The recent promo where you have to make all bookings between 7th and 11th September to gain max points is just ridiculous.

  5. I’m considering my Amex plat membership, been a member for 3 years but erosion of benefits means I wold be better off spending the annual fee to get the benefits elsewhere!

    • It’s only the relative frequency of statement credits for various things that is keeping me at the moment, PP is less of an issue to be honest now I’m gold status with BA if I fly from my local airport I’ll be better off paying for an Amazon lounge access card, or otherwise buy a premium ticket…

  6. Does anyone know if stays booked using part cash part points will qualify for this?
    From my experience, I know you still get stay credit, and points for the cash part paid, for these stays. So would these stays count towards this promotion?

    • I did a Happy Monday stay last weekend at novotel Blackfriars and got zero points for it, I was then told it wasn’t eligible. Has anyone else been told this? I’m sure previous stays earned points.

  7. Hey, i book 2 stay at accors property in november before the 20th of september, but i will have to change the date of my stay, would those stay still be eligible for the offer ?
