Back in June, we launched an EXCLUSIVE exciting new promotion with IHG Rewards Club.

Head for Points readers will receive DOUBLE IHG Rewards Club base points when they book their stays on ihg.com via the link on this page.

The offer has been very well received, and over 99% of completed bookings have tracked correctly and received their double points automatically.  I thought it was worth a reminder of the deal, and to introduce it to new readers for the first time.

IHG Rewards Club double points Head for Points

This offer is, to be honest, quite a coup for a little site like this one – albeit a little site with 1 million page views per month.  It is testament to the strong relationship that HfP has built up with IHG and its readership over the last four years.

You will receive an additional 10 IHG Rewards Club base points for every $1 you spend at an InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, EVEN or Hualuxe hotel. You will receive an additional 5 points at Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites.

The great thing is that this offer will double up with any other IHG Rewards Club promotion, such as the current Accelerate offer. Accelerate is already, for most people, the most generous hotel offer on the market this Summer and this exclusive Head for Points deal makes it even more generous.

How do I earn my double IHG Rewards Club base points?

It is very easy. All you need to do in ensure that you book your future IHG stays via the link on this page of Head for Points.

You may want to bookmark this page for future use. When you click through you will be taken to a special Head for Points landing page on ihg.com.

Please note this very important rule – you MUST click through from the link on this page of HfP to ihg.com. Do NOT bookmark the ihg.com page. IHG will not award double points if they do not see that you clicked through directly from Head for Points.

This is how the promotion will work:

You must click through from this page on Head for Points to the special HfP landing page on ihg.com to make your booking. IHG will NOT award double base points if the original click did not originate at HfP or if the booking was not made via the special HfP landing page.

Rooms booked under a negotiated corporate rate deal will not qualify for double points.

IHG will add the double base points as an account adjustment within 28 days of your stay. They will NOT appear at the same time as the standard points from your stay.

The bonus base points only apply to your accommodation and not to incidental spend such as food and beverage.

The bonus base points will not count for elite qualifying purposes.

You will only receive double base points on one room per booking.  Bear this in mind if you are booking two or more rooms on the same confirmation number.

The bonus base points will be based on the standard earning rate of 5 or 10 points per $1. Any elite status bonus will not be doubled.

This offer may be withdrawn by IHG Rewards Club at any time. However, bonus points on existing bookings will be honoured.

The decision of IHG over whether or not to award double base points on any particular booking is final.

I am very grateful to IHG Rewards Club for choosing to make this exclusive offer available to Head for Points readers.

Click here to visit the dedicated Head for Points page for this offer and to click through to the special booking page on ihg.com.

I have had a couple of these; I have also forgotten a couple.

  • Robert says:

Damn, I wish you had reminded us of this 2 days ago when I could have still canceled my 2 night stay in NYC this week, as it would have netted me an additional 10,000 points… 🙂

Must remember this for next time.

  • Robert says:

Just to add, I was focused on booking it through the app, as it’s one of my miles points with the current offer, but even if I do end up completing that one (by making one extra one through the app) the 10,000 additional points would still have been worth more.

Yes its always worth booked your cheapest possible nights on the app to hit that target , the rest I book through raffles. This promo plus spire elite means I get tripple base points and fantastic service and upgrades from ihg. I have now completely switched over to using ihg only for hotels now. I was previously using hotels .com for everything but much prefer this as it represents genuine value combined with a genuinly good loyalty scheme . Well done rob for managing to get us all such a great deal. I dont know of any other site able to match this. Ps . Booked crowne plaza z hotel for 30/31st December on Miami beach from accelerate free nights from end of last year . Such great value worth approx 1000bucks in a room with balcony and hot tub on the deck

  • Igor says:

I made three bookings for stays, but none gave be double points (stays were up to 12 August 2016, so more then a month ago). I followed the instructions and IHG site recognised the promotion, showing hotels on yellow background, but additional points have not arrived. Probably, I should write to IHG support.

    • Rob says:

Email me with a) confirmation number b) hotel name c) stay dates d) name on booking and I will get it fixed for you. raffles at headforpoints.co.uk

  • Concerto says:

The problem is many of us have a book through the IHG app task for Accelerate, and I tend to book one or two stays more through the app in case one of them doesn’t track properly.

  • Matthew says:

Does anyone know if IHG do 50% off 2nd room for kids like Hilton? Thanks 🙂

  • The Dude says:

    Rob,

A huge thank you for your Double Points promotion! I have already earned enough extra points using the HfP/IHG launch page for a free hotel night in NYC this fall. I greatly appreciate all you do for your readers but this exclusive offer is immensely special. I hope the Double Points special runs for a long time.

    • Rob says:

Thanks. IHG is happy with the performance so we should be good for a while yet.

      • barry cutters says:

Fantastic news. And to be fair this promo really tips it over the edge for me and does install real loyalty. -in my own example and booking habits anyway

  • Ed says:

Got my first hfp / Ihg booked stay coming up next week. The double base points will be very welcomed, thanks Rob!

Also wondering whether you will be covering any of the new spite trial benefits in a bits article. Many of us have (or could) achieve spire using virgin miles and it would be a helpful update.
