Hilton HHonors has extended its current ‘double points’ promotion by a month.

Whilst originally due to end on 30th December, ‘Double Up’ will now run until 31st January.

You do NOT need to register again.  If you registered originally back in August, you remain registered.

Hilton Diamond 350

If you didn’t register before but will have a Hilton stay before the end of January, you will need to register to take part and this can be done via the Hilton website here.

‘Double Up’ wins the 2016 award for simplest hotel promotion:  you will receive double base points on every stay.  No hotels excluded, no cap, no minimum stay requirements.  Bookings made via the Hilton app will receive triple points.

No hotels are excluded.  Qudos to Hilton for getting rid of the long list of ‘non-participating properties’ which used to blight their promotions.

Even if you choose ‘points and miles’ (usually 10 base points per $1 plus 1 airline mile per $1) instead of ‘points and points’ (usually 10 base points per $1 plus 5 bonus base points per $1), you still receive double base points for the ‘points’ element.

You can register for ‘Double Up’ here if you haven’t already.  No registration = no bonus.

If you can’t remember if you registered, click through and try to register again – it will tell you if you have already signed up.

OT but hotels: For Rob and other M&M collectors – 6000 bonus+2000 base miles for first time hotel bookers on LH website, minimum two night stay.

  • John says:

There is an add-on to the Double Points promo of a Triple Points when you book with the app. I don’t know why they require separate registrations. (To be clear the max you can get is Triple i.e. 30 points per pre-tax USD.)

There is a further promotion of 5000 points per stay when you pay with any Visa card. You must book with the app. You can get this bonus on points&money stays if you pay with Visa and on points-only stays if you charge something to the room, as long as the stay is automatically credited (which Hilton has been having problems with during November, requiring retro-claims). To maximise the chance of the 5000 points crediting, you should only have Visa cards in your Hilton profile at the time of booking. Also you must stay (and pay) by 31 January, not just book.

Also isnt there still a 3x BA promo still running???

      • Jon says:

Yes (at least as of a couple of days ago) and it appears to award double HH bonus points if you have your preferences set to Points + Points – so worth registering for even if you don’t collect Avios…

  • Anon says:

O/T: IHG Iggy Montblanc Plantinum Rollerball Pen 181500

Iggy is towards the left middle

  • Alan says:

Probably worth editing to add in the triple points for app bookings plus 5k for paying with Visa for app bookings?

    • Liz says:

Do you have to register for the 5000 pts for paying with a visa – may be doing a stay away in January. I’ve registered for the double pts/ triple pts using the app part.

  • Nick M says:

Just spent a night at the Dublin Airport Hilton on the way to a wedding… 20k point redemption booked a long time ago – fortunately via the app as I have now received 6195 points for charging a couple of coffees to the room!

    • James67 says:

Planning on doing the same at Hampton Newcastle for 10k stay and adding a one night stay for one and done accelerate bonus points night at HIE. Net result should be Hampton room for just under 5k points and over 15k IHG points for just over £60. Not the best hotels but good deal for a two night change of scenery this week, especially if I get lucky with a good three night points break for that 15k next year.

      • Madmiler says:

Be careful on your calculations as you may find that points for Hampton stays are only earned on room rate, therefore you will not hit 5k bonus.

        • Nick M says:

I’m fairly sure that I’ve received points from the Corby Hampton – paid a few £ for a bottle of water and 2500 bonus points on a 5000 redemption if I remember correctly

          • Yuff says:

I received 5k bonus, on reward stays last year, buying a packet of crisps at the Corby Hampton.

      • RussellH says:

Hampton Newcastle is not bad at all – definitely nicer than the HIE (was there last night – was in Hampton a few months ago).

But you do not get points on your bar bill at Hampton.

  • N says:

OT – Need 305 Accor points, and ideas how I can get them easily and quickly?

    • James67 says:

Happy Monday this weekend? MR-Finnair-accor but poor deal and no idea how long. Accor just launched 4k points for economist subscription, poor compared to IBM plus and no idea when points post.

    • TGLoyalty says:

was sent an email about e-rewards sign up the other day did you get one?

      • RussellH says:

To get at the 305 Accor points means 4000 e-Rewards points and then at least 10 days before they post. 2000 e-Rewards points only gets you 275 Accor points.

OT Genghis – what were good stores for the AMEX spend near to where you (and I) work? Can’t seem to find many. Appreciate any tips.

    • Genghis says:

I’ve been for a good walk around the area. Many shops “don’t take Amex”.

I found Cards Galore at Leadenhall Market decent (they sell stamps) and the cheese shop and butchers also in Leadenhall Market. On my non-dining rooms days at work last week I went to Kurumaya on Watling St (decent katsu curry and yakitori sticks and sushi but not as good as Tsuru (not in smal shop) around the corner). I’m taking the team to Poppy’s (fish and chips) on Friday just east of Spitalfields. Little India close to Cannon St does decent food though don’t fancy a curry.

Do you have any other decent tips?

      • Rob says:

Cards Galore could be a winner for me then …. need to get some Christmas card stamps!

        • YL says:

Is it just me or Cards Galore have now all disappeared from the map? I was planning to do my stamps collection this weekend..
I am sure when I last checked there were many on the list, including one on the Strand and the one inside the Bond Street station, but I can no longer find any.

          • Rhys says:

Yes they do seem to have disappeared. I saw the London Wall branch when the map first went up and it now doesn’t show. Used my Amex there though and it did pay out anyway.

      • rams1981 says:

        none really 🙁

I went to Kurumaya yesterday but it was done contactless so may need a bit of faff from me to get the £5… I’m going to explore today as have time.

        • Genghis says:

They are very keen to do contactless in Kurumaya but I insist on entering the PIN. Let me know if you find any other good places. I’ve given up really. Going up north this weekend and there’s quite a few bars / pubs / restaurants that take it so should have a cheap weekend…

          • rams1981 says:

that Leadenhall Cards galore seems to be the only one accepting AMEX. Went into 5 others nearby and none do. Annoyingly only first class stamps. Bought 4 books of 12! Went to the Good Schnit for lunch. Essentially chicken schnitzel salad box, drink, nutella donut for £10.50 (and now £5.50). Guy behind me clearly was looking to spend £10 as well to get the £5 back as he kept asking as he added items what the running total was to get it over £10!

        • Alan says:

Contactless always credited fine for SS purchases in Oz, is it a known issue here? My recent one here credited OK too although with no confirmation email.

        • RussellH says:

So far both my Shop Small and Amex Post Office transactions have been contactless – and all have paid out the £5.

      • William says:

Ekachi in Liverpool Street Arcade is very good Thai and accept Amex. Very busy at lunch time usually have to queue for a few minutes.

      • Tom says:

FYI Tsuru around the corner from Kurumaya IS on shop small but not on the map.. I had lunch there last week and got the Amex e-mail.

I always find sushi is the best choice at Kurumaya..really like it there!

    • Jonny says:

For anyone near Holborn, there are a couple of newsagents within a few minutes walk of each other that take Amex for Oyster top ups.
      1) The Paper Shop on Southampton Row (charge £1 for the privelege)
      2) Bury Food and Wine on Bury Place (charge 50p)

      • Moktar says:

Any luck with the Farringdon and Kings Cross postoffice (or it’s associated shop) for ss?

  • Alan says:

OT reply from Uber – 50% via Android Pay promo was indeed cancelled 🙁
