What are the best hotel promos at present?

Welcome to our monthly round-up of the best hotel promotions currently running.  All of the information in this article can also be found on our ‘Hotel Promos’ page which contains details of all of the current offers, together with links to our major articles on each hotel scheme.  However, a positive response from readers – especially our 10,000 email subscribers – means I am now running this monthly article as a handy summary of what is going on.

Where should you credit your stays this month?

You have some pretty decent options at the moment.  I run through the options below.

Hotel Indigo Krakow

IHG (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Indigo, Staybridge Suites etc):

The Autumn version of IHG’s ‘Accelerate’ is probably the best choice for most people with lighter schedules.  As targets are personalised it is totally dependent on what you were offered but you should be able to rack up a significant number of bonus points with just a few nights.

The latest round of ‘Accelerate’ runs until 31st December.  This is my article on the offer.

Everyone has individual targets, but they are generally fairly easy.  You can earn 30,000+ bonus points with the points starting to flow from your first stay.

I had this for 48,100 points:

  • 5,000 points for a stay in September
  • 2,000 points on my next stay
  • 10,000 points for staying five nights
  • 4,000 points for booking a two-night weekend stay
  • 2,500 points for two stays booked via my corporate rate (the company I haven’t worked for in 6 years!)
  • 6,600 points for booking a Bonus Points Package
  • 2,000 points for getting the IHG credit card
  • 5,000 points for renewing my Ambassador membership
  • 11,000 points for completing six of the seven targets above, excluding the September bonus

You need to register for ‘Accelerate’ – the link is here where you will also find your personalised targets.  The IHG home page is here.

IHG Rewards Club logo 350

Hilton (Hampton, Conrad, Waldorf-Astoria etc):

The Hilton offer looks ok and is very straightforward.  You will receive double base points on every stay until 31st December.  There is no minimum stay required and every Hilton hotel is participating.

I wrote about this offer here.

Hilton is still status matching too.  If you have status with another hotel programme, Hilton will match you to Gold or Diamond for 90 days – I explain how to do it in this article.

You MUST register for double points by visiting this page of hilton.com.

Club Carlson for hotel page

Club Carlson (Radisson Blu, Park Inn, Park Plaza, Radisson Red):

Whilst you only have three weeks left to take part, Club Carlson has its own generous offer which could – if the specifics make sense to you – be very lucrative.

Called ‘Free Fridays’, you will receive one free Friday night (valid at any hotel, to be used from October) for every two stays you do.

Alternatively, you can choose to receive 10,000 bonus Club Carlson points for every two stays.

The deal runs until 30th September and you’ll find full details in my article here.

Totally separately, this link gives you an exclusive 10% discount on many Radisson Blu hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Le Club AccorHotels logo

Le Club AccorHotels:

Le Club AccorHotels, the loyalty scheme for Ibis / Novotel / Sofitel / Mecure etc, is not running a global promotion at present.

See this article for how to earn 500 bonus Avios on your next Novotel or Mercure stay before 30th September.

World of Hyatt:

Hyatt has no global promotion at present.

SPG Starwood

Starwood (St Regis, Westin, Sheraton, Element, W, Luxury Collection etc)

The Starwood offer is pretty weak, to be honest, because it is restricted to only some of their hotels.

Until 15th January, you will earn either 500 or 1,000 bonus SPG points per stay, based on brand, but only if your chosen hotel is participating.

If your chosen hotel is taking part then you are not getting a bad deal on a cheap stay, given that I value 500 Starwood points at £7.50 and 1,000 points at £15.  Here is the list of 1,000 point hotels and here is the list of 500 point hotels.

Registration is required via this page of the Starwood website.  Registration closes on 30th November, which is six weeks before the promotion ends.

Marriott (Renaissance, Ritz-Carlton etc):

The new Marriott Rewards offer, a free night for just two stays, covers the same dates as the Starwood offer, expiring on 15th January.

You must register in advance of your stay via this website.

After two stays, you will receive a voucher for a free night at a Category 1-5 Marriott Rewards hotel.  This would usually cost between 7,500 and 25,000 Marriott Rewards points.  You are limited to one free night per account.

The voucher is valid for six months and can be used whenever there is standard reward availability showing.  The only snag is the limited number of Category 1-5 hotels in major cities in Europe and North America.

My full article on this offer is here.  Don’t forget to register before 30th November, which is six weeks before the offer ends.

The current offers are looking attractive, even without anything from Accor and Hyatt.

Having a choice of:

a ‘Free Friday’ or 10,000 bonus points from Club Carlson (albeit to 30th September only)

double Hilton points

a free night after just two Marriott stays

a potential 40,000+ fairly easy points via IHG‘s Accelerate offer

is not a bad choice to have!

  1. Bad cut and paste job on the Hilton offer Rob, no triple points for diamond this quarter, it’s the additional nights/stays bonus offers.

  2. Le Club AccorHotels are still running their triple Korean Skypass points till October 10th if anyone else’s collecting them.

  3. I can’t believe no one hasn’t mentioned the Accor upto 40% off sale world wide or the 3for2 across Germany i think…

    • There are so many accor promotions it’s difficult to keep track of them all. A few years ago their 40-50% off sales were very genuine but for the last couple of years I’ve been unconvinced, as bad as Hilton sales in my experience. Sale comes out and price remains static or increases.

      • With the Hilton sales I’ve learnt to book the day after the sales end. All the availability options reset and the cheapest prices return. A day or two later they then go back up with some new discounts prices for advanced booking etc.

        • Thanks for this tip, will remember to give it a go.

        • Anecdotally, I found some quite good prices during the previous south east asian sale. I booked the conrad bangkok for 84 gbp per night for King Bed deluxe corner. I tried to book another room the day after the sale ended for some family member and the prices had jumped to 130 gbp per night for the same room.

But when they had a EU sale, the prices didn’t seem that low so that might not apply everywhere.

          • I need to put up 2 for 2 nights in Bangkok next month and noticed some deep discounting on Conrad too. Milleniums even worse, as low as 2300 baht or 18000 points per night. I think people are falling out of love with Hilton in Bangkok. The location of Millenium is simultaneously fab and painful

          • Well yes for the conrad bangkok, location wise, it’s not great but the service and room really makes up for it. As that price, it was really a steal.

  4. Can the Marriott promotion be combined with their other one for new members? I guess not as this would give 2 free nights after 2 stays.

  5. Club Accor is currently running the 40% off sale, and I have seen Novotel Hotel Bhosphorus, Istanbul going for around £40 a night, currently.

    • You’ll find a lot of deals in Istanbul I reckon … including some excellent flight prices both to and out of it at the moment.

  6. Does the IHG MasterCard promotion stack with their Accelerate programme?

    • I used the IHG MC offer at end of Aug and then had to chase the AMB services to get the stay credited. Once it credited, my accelerate offers hit a few days later.

    • Yes, those stays are guaranteed to be qualifying.

    • pommy ray says:

it does but not for special rate tasks like
your rate or even points bonus rate as they are not listed when you go through the mc ihg link.

  7. Is it just me or does the the chap in the hyatt picture just look creepy?

  8. Can you include Melia group on these posts please as they are now an AMEX partner hotel. Seems to be the only hotel chain you are missing.

    • I’d like to, but Melia doesn’t seem to do the kind of ‘every hotel, every brand, every country’ promotions that we cover here. If there was something suitably interesting then I would.

  9. trickster says:

Anyone having issues with the latest Accelerate promotion posting?

I have a stay from 3rd Sept that’s not triggered the bonuses yet. I know the party line will be wait x weeks if I call them up, but from experience of past Accelerate promos they are usually posted by now.

    • Graham Walsh says:

I’ve done 3 nights already and nothing posted to my dashboard.

      • None of my stays (a total of 5 across 2 nights) seem to have posted. I wasn’t staying in the rooms myself tho although booked under my IHG# to get a late checkout.

Possibly due to the multiple bookings? On this occasion (pre-wedding bridal prep for Mrs G) the points was not the main focus!

  10. Want to book Novotel in Birmingham for 21/10. I can’t find any sales for that. Am I missing something?

Also, should I wait with hope there will be an Accor promotion before then? I am usually a Hilton person but Novotel is the only bhx airport hotel I can find

  11. Being gold member would I get free breakfast when using the megabonus marriot free night ?
Would be staying 1 of the marriot cat 5 hotels .
