News in brief:

VIP distillery tour competition winner

Two weeks ago we ran a competition in association with Chivas Regal whisky and we have a winner.

I know many were keen to win, but unfortunately there was only one prize to give away.

Andrew M. and a plus one will get an exclusive VIP tour of the Strathisla distillery in the Scottish Highlands, the home of Chivas Regal, with all expenses paid.

Have a fantastic trip.

P.S. Next time you’re walking past Duty Free, Chivas would be very happy if you looked out for Chivas Brother’s Blend which is available exclusively at the airport. Just remember to drink responsibly.  As I will, with the free bottle of Chivas Regal that was delivered to the office yesterday 🙂

Which was comment number 200,000?

Yesterday HfP reached a milestone: 200,000 comments!

To celebrate this slightly crazy and very impressive achievement we decided to give a £50 Amazon voucher to comment number 200,000.

The lucky winner is Ben, who posted just before 7am.  Well done.  Ben actually posted a ‘proper’ comment in the article on European lounge access and not a random one on the competition page.

Don’t forget that our Rolling Luggage competition, pinned to the top of the home page, is still running.  You can win £600 of rather smart suitcases.

Get 3,600 Avios with iPad Pro and 2,400 Avios with LEGO

As we covered on Shopper Points this week, Tesco Direct is currently running two generous extra Clubcard points offers.

1,500 extra Clubcard points with iPad Pro

1,000 extra Clubcard points with LEGO Star Wars, Friends and City

You can convert 1,000 Clubcard points to 2,400 Avios or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club miles, and 1,500 Clubcard points to 3,600 Avios or 3,750 Virgin miles.

Both offers expire on Sunday.

  • Peter K says:

    Congratulations to the winners 🙂

  • Liz says:

OT: is it ok to have two separate bookings for hotels with Hotels.com for the same dates at the same place. We have a booking for a 2 room apt for 4 people but as a back up plan would like to book a 1 room apt at the same place in case the other 2 people cancel on us (which is a possibility) – so definitely one of the bookings will be cancelled prior to the refundable cancellation period.

  • AndyR says:

Are you sure? Sometimes I’ve had hotels contact me the day after making a booking through hotels.com and they have all my details (usually smaller independent ones mind).

    • Liz says:

What happened in your case. I haven’t booked the 2nd apt yet.

      • Genghis says:

Just book in their name. I’ve booked multiple rooms on hotels.com before for the same night for multiple people quite a few times. No questions asked. Doesn’t affect rewards – they all came to me.

    • Rob says:

From what I read, the biggest problem hotels with Expedia etc is that they do not get client data until the last minute which stops them building that relationship. Happy to be proved wrong though.
