News in brief:

VIP distillery tour competition winner

Two weeks ago we ran a competition in association with Chivas Regal whisky and we have a winner.

I know many were keen to win, but unfortunately there was only one prize to give away.

Andrew M. and a plus one will get an exclusive VIP tour of the Strathisla distillery in the Scottish Highlands, the home of Chivas Regal, with all expenses paid.

Have a fantastic trip.

Which was comment number 200,000?

Yesterday HfP reached a milestone: 200,000 comments!

To celebrate this slightly crazy and very impressive achievement we decided to give a £50 Amazon voucher to comment number 200,000.

The lucky winner is Ben, who posted just before 7am.  Well done.  Ben actually posted a ‘proper’ comment in the article on European lounge access and not a random one on the competition page.

Don’t forget that our Rolling Luggage competition, pinned to the top of the home page, is still running.  You can win £600 of rather smart suitcases.

Get 3,600 Avios with iPad Pro and 2,400 Avios with LEGO

As we covered on Shopper Points this week, Tesco Direct is currently running two generous extra Clubcard points offers.

1,500 extra Clubcard points with iPad Pro

1,000 extra Clubcard points with LEGO Star Wars, Friends and City

You can convert 1,000 Clubcard points to 2,400 Avios or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club miles, and 1,500 Clubcard points to 3,600 Avios or 3,750 Virgin miles.

Both offers expire on Sunday.

Well done to both winners. Enjoy!

  • Andrew M says:

I assume Andrew M already knows he has won, rather than him finding out just now? Asking for a friend.

  • Memesweeper says:

OT: does anyone know if a gift card bought in Boots T5 qualifies as spend in the Heathrow Rewards scheme? I bought two last week and the spend hasn’t shown, wondering if I need to lodge a claim.

  • Genghis says:

Ah, acted too soon. Need to get in quick though so first payment before 5 Nov.

    • the real harry1 says:

      I stand corrected! 🙂

O/T anybody missing the Sunday Times Travel Magazine – 5 issues for £10 sttmsub.co.uk & STFP17 – cancel DD once first payment is taken or real price kicks in £30 for 12 issues

    • Liz says:

Genghis – I saw your comment about your upcoming Barra trip late last night. We did the tour with Rob from Barra Island Tours last Wednesday. He asked us beforehand if we would share the car with another couple which we agreed to do so that halved the cost of the tour. He was great! We thought it might have been someone from the HFP community but they didn’t know anything about airmiles. Hope you are lucky with the weather. We had a calm dry day with cloud but still stunning scenery – I got some amazing photos! We had a fabulous day !

      • Genghis says:

Thanks Liz. I rebooked with someone else as Rob (and his mate Rob) aren’t available. Weather is a bit iffy for a week’s time but everything could change. I’m sure we’ll have a good time regardless.

  • Andrew says:

£10 off £50 at House of Fraser with First Direct Visa until 8/10/17.

  • Chris B says:

Also there is 1000 Clubcard points for the normal iPad, non pro version

  • N says:

OT. Update for those who had a go at the Avis/Iberia competition in June/July this year.

T&C says points by 30/9. And mine landed yesterday. The points appeared in my transactions the day before but with no change to my Avios total. Yesterday that changed and my 27k points posted. Very happy!

I would’ve posted yesterday but this comment would’ve gotten lost in the sea of congratulations!

    • Maria says:

      Hi
I’ve just checked and I got my 18k. Very happy too!

      • David says:

Are yours with a date in June 2016 too? Mine went in, went back out, and went back in again…! (And I’ve now used them for two of us to do an internal flight in Japan next year for the princely fee of £3.80)

  • Michael says:

Economist Avois offer is back again. A year sub for 13,200 but I think is only for BAEC.
