  How does the Priority Pass offer work? It says 6 pounds be for Standard Plus when I click on the link above. But it can’t be. That must be 6 pounds of reduction, right?

  Worth mentioning for those looking at Easter Holidays, a few friends got great offers on Finnair’s Krabi flights (Tue/Wed from Hel, good connections to LHR) over Easter – might be worth looking in conjunction with above £50 off for even better deals?

  OT: Number of people (especially TRH1) reporting success using Tesco MOCs to buy Amazon gift cards. I have a £6 off £30 MOC, it states clearly on the back not eligible for gift cards, and the cashier refused to do it. What am I missong? Can you do it at self service checkout – how do you then activate the gift card?

    That wording is meant to apply to Tesco gift cards, not third party gift cards. You can’t do it on a self service till. General advice is to buy some groceries and throw in the gift card too, you shouldn’t have any trouble then. If scanned, the MOC is accepted for third party gift cards.

      and choose a suitable cashier: I go for young or old man from preference; not a woman who has just come back to work. Don’t say ‘can I use this?’; just give it to them.

        Plus get them to sub-total after each card (although most seem to know to do that now).

        I put cards at front of the shopping to get any issues out the way with things not scanning (giving me time to nip back for another if required).

        Note that at Morrison’s you can use self-scan fine, but need to put something else on the scales to add weight! Or, as happened to me last time, have a helpful cashier that puts it into store mode when you’ve got £1k worth of Amazon cards to push through 😀

    just choose a different cashier

    I haven’t been stopped – won’t say never – certainly not in the last 20-odd uses like this

    as others said, a young guy cashier is almost never going to even blink, he prides himself on activating the Amazon card efficiently etc

    stick the Amazon card on first with a few groceries to follow, he’ll forget all about money off coupon rules when you come to pay

  Bagged 2nd time in 3 years for the NZ LHR-LAX flights – followed by a panic call after realising my title was Mrs instead of Mr – luckily they were alot more accomodating than alot of other airlines you feature on HFP 🙂

  Tip is to hold the fare – £25 – didn;t have that 3 years ago but missed out last year because of this. £200 for a return to LA – happy with that

    Titles aren’t shown on UK passports so you should never have to pay to change this on your ticket. First and last names are all that count – I once got to the US and back with my middle name spelled wrong! Delta Airlines wanted £65 to change it so I decided to risk it and there were no problems.

      Got me laughing.

      My middle name is Jabez, thank my late father for that.

      For years this was shown as Javel on my passport until I thought time to do something about it.

      Many flights to Europe, Africa and North America travelled on it. Once you’re in the system, you’re in the system.

      Go figure USA and I say that as someone that will have done all 50 States next summer.

      And no, I’m still a relatively young male man. In my mind anyway.

  Just pulled the trigger on my second deal of the day. Apple giving away £80 gift card for iPad Pro purchase (as well as a couple of other models). Been meaning to update the good lady wife’s iPad Air 2 for some time.

  I’m tempted by the iPhone X so that’s £80 off and some money back on the sale of the iPad Air 2 and iPhone 7 Plus.

  Don’t get too many opportunities at a discount from Apple so was worth my jumping into today.

    I know there are dissenters out there but there are some good deals to be had on Black Friday. I’m quite content with the two deals today as they were high value, rarely discounted and items I was going to eventually purchase anyway. £120 in savings. Job done.

      Oh, and hit the 2k spend on the Amex Nectar credit card. That’ll pay for the Christmas shop, eventually.
