Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Important dates for your diary – offers about to close which you shouldn’t miss (November 2017)

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Here is the latest edition of our regular feature which summarises offers that are ending soon.

It pulls together the different deals mentioned on our Top Avios Points Earning Offers, Top Hotel Bonus Points Offers and Top UK Credit Card Offers pages.

Even though Black Friday was two days ago, many of the deals we wrote about are still running over the weekend.  I have not listed them again here because most are not ‘miles and points’ related, but you can check out the details in our Black Friday special coverage here (for hotels) and here (for everything else).

Stretching it a bit further 13th Dec – last day for 20% conversion bonus from Tesco Club card to Virgin Flying Club

    • Ian says:

Thanks, I was just trying to find that date! Tesco still don’t mention it on their clubcard site

  • Graham Walsh says:

FYI link dead for this one

Last day to register for the Marriott free nights promo (stay by 15th January). Article.

    • Cate says:

….and for the SPG 500/1000 bonus points you need to register by November 30.

    • Lady London says:

Try a different browser. It was working yesterday (I logged in to check it’s already on my signed-up promotions list. I’m not sure I’ll use it though but wasn’t going to miss signing up just in case!

Something starting rather than ending: American Express ShopSmall on 2nd December (next Saturday) until 17th. No doubt Rob will cover this during the week.
Remember that, like all Amex statement credit offers, this is per card rather than per account. So you need to make sure that you have the maximum number of cards.
There is still time to apply for supplementary cards and don’t forget Genghis’s tip about having a supplementary card in your own name on Amex (set relationship to ‘other’). You can also get supplementaries for Lloyds Avios Amex cards but don’t bother with MBNA because their supplementaries have the same number as the main card. Non-Aex cards can be registered via the ShopSmall microsite.

Niwctv bix at Tesco is discounted bit the promo 500 Clubcard points seem to have vanished on the sky kids version

  • Rob says:

    Won’t be this year now.

  • Tony M says:

OT. To reapply for an amex platinum after 6 months to receive the bonus again, is it from the date the account was closed or the date when last received the bonus? thanks

  • Bill says:

OT Lloyd’s Avios card. Wasn’t sure where to post this but after the problems 6 months ago when I received, along with many other folk, both Avios and cash as compensation for problems with the account. Since then no problems as far as I am aware, but yesterday I received another apology letter saying they hoped to resolve issues by Jan, and a cheque for another £75. Completely unprompted and as far as I know not related to any current issues. Anyone else?

    • Alan says:

Saw a similar post a day or two ago – perhaps from Anna?

So disappointed mine have always posted fine!! :'(

      • Liz says:

I still haven’t had mine resolved. My complaints manager is due to phone me with an update on Wed so I will tell him about all these people getting another £75 – assume I will get mine too – I am also going to ask for the £24 fee to be waived again as our renewal date is 1/12.

        • meta says:

Lucikly the problem with my account was only that Lloyds opened a new account. Avios CS sorted it out by linking two accounts, so hoping no further issues.

  • Graham Walsh says:

Sounds like I need to apply for a Lloyd’s Avios

    • John says:

You should because everyone expects the product to be withdrawn in the next year or so

      • Avoisfish says:

        Hi all

I’m fairly new to all this, and wanted to take this opportunity to thank all who post for the help to us noobs to this “hobby” of collecting.
I try and read comments most days and take advantage of Robs emails regarding promos.
Please all be aware that just because some of us do not post comments that we are not grateful for the help you experienced collectors give us on here.
Please keep up the good work and all advice is welcome

      • Graham Walsh says:

        Just applied

Cracking offer too – just don’t need or have any big spend coming up.
00.00% p.a. for the first 29 months on balances transferred within 90 days of account opening. 3.00% fee applies*
00.00% p.a. for the first 29 months on purchases.

        • lev441 says:

It’s been a good card for me to have long term, as a solo traveller the upgrade voucher is great, and no fees when spending on the card. Unfortunately never had any issues with avios crediting so no free money from Lloyds for me..!
