Qatar Airways flight sale starts today – save an extra 5%

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The Qatar Airways sale starts today – see the sale home page here – and will run for a week.

In recent years this has been the most aggressive sale we saw, with fares (out of Europe, not out of London) of £1000 or less to many places.

Remember that Qatar Airways runs a fantastic business class service and you earn Avios and tier points when you fly with them as they are a BA partner.  A return flight to Asia earns 560 BA tier points which is over 90% of a BA Silver card.

Qatar Airways sale

I will do a full report tomorrow or Thursday as soon as I can get through the data.

However …. if you want to book a sale flight departing from the UK, I have a special 5% discount code which can be stacked with the official sale fares.

The code is UKGTBAFFILIATE and is good for bookings made by 16th January.  You must book via this sale page of the Qatar Airways website – click here.

QR Sale – I’m useless at searching for cheap fares. I’m looking for any European city to any decent Asian destination, Bali, Thailand, Sri Lanka, anywhere I’m likely to find a decent SPG hotel (St Regis, Westin) but can’t seem to find much under the £3k bracket for two people? Maybe I’m crap at searching or maybe it’s not such a good sale this year?

    • Mrs_fussy says:

Wait for the sale to start 🙂

    • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

Oslo – Penang is £1,120 each for two passengers. Great destination in itself, but short hop to Langkawi if you want some SPG options.

      • James says:

Thanks mate will look. How are you finding these fares? Via the Qatar site?

        • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

Google flights. Scandinavian cities usually good as origins and Penang is a new route so likely to be a relatively cheap destination.

    • Tony says:

Ha! I’m looking for nearly the same thing.

    • DanTTL says:

      HEL – BKK for £975 around March/April.
My technique is to go to Google Flights, enter “ARN, OSL, CPH, AMS, HEL” as origin (they generally have the best sales fares), enter “BKK, KUL, SIN, HKG, DPS” for destination, filter to Qatar, and then look for the cheapest dates. Once you’ve found cheapest flights, go to momondo.com and search on the same dates, you’ll usually find the same tickets cheaper through a travel agent. Good luck!

  • Optimus Prime says:

Cheapest I see for Tokyo is ex-BUD at HUF 501900 ( £1433). Not great. Air China offers same fare ex-LHR. Yeah I know I’d miss out on Tier Points plus QR hard product is better but…

    Qatar Sale

Has anyone found any good early routes on the Qatar Sale -not sure if they are quite as good as the last one, been having a dig for the past hour!

  • Shaun says:

Just booked Oslo-Melbourne for £1480 end of November . Use promo code PCGTBGIFT for discount.

  • Clive says:

Very underwhelming sale in comparison to previous years

    • Lady London says:

Should we allow for the UK Pound having lost about 1/6th of its value in past year or so? Allowing for that the QR price doesn’t seem to have deteriorated so much…

  • Nick says:

The Titan and Germania flights CAN be booked as RFS, it just requires a call.

The BA website isn’t set up to offer partner RFS but their hands are tied by the legal obligation to prominently display operating carrier. It’s a ‘least-worst’ thing, but not confusing ‘ordinary punters’ takes priority.

The service fee will be waived if you have to call to book.

  • Ian says:

The Qatar website is atrocious. It gives you error after error and it’s impossible to check the prices without spending an hour checking. And the discount codes never worked. I’ve checked the prices with and without codes and it’s always the same price. And yes, it’s within the booking window they mention.

  • Joe B says:

I got stockholm to capetown, with a day or so stop in DOH booked as a multitrip, 7400 one way, 7600 SEK the other… booked late for november
