  O/T: Tesco x4 now still valid til June, email sent out…

  We recently contacted you to let you know about changes we’re making to the value of Clubcard vouchers used with our Reward Partners.

  For a while now, customers have told us they want a simpler way to get the most value from their points.

  So, to make it more straightforward to use, we will be offering customers 3x the value of their vouchers with over 100 Clubcard Reward Partners (rather than offering 2x value for some Reward Partners and 4x for others). This is part of a series of changes we’re making to Clubcard to help make it simpler. This includes the ability to increase the value of your Clubcard vouchers with some of our Reward Partners from as little as 50p.

  Over the last few days, we’ve listened to feedback from our customers who said they want more time to adjust to these changes, so we’ve delayed them until 10 June 2018. Which means you can still redeem your vouchers at 4x their value until then at tesco.com/clubcard/boost.

  OT due to check in for my 2 for 1 flight home with BA from Johannesburg and can’t check in and says go to airport. I assume this is the warning sign for being selected for a downgrade. What’s my best approach if this does happen?

    Check availability on later flights, ensure that the voucher holder is downgraded and not the companion (no compo for them without a court case), do not sign the standard BA doc which implies you are giving up your right to compensation (which is illegal).

    Update – got to airport early. Went to check in desk and my ticket was ticketed. Weird as I was BA silver and had pre selected seats. Went to BA sales desk who called head office I think who confirmed it should be ticketed and in the end all good. Thankfully.

    I wonder if it was related to being done as 2 separate booking initially and I cancelled the return and added it to the 2 for 1 to secure seats.

  Sorry OT:

  Just about to cancel platinum after latest churn (managed 130,000MR this time). I am going to downgrade to gold. I have never had Gold before, will I be charged annual fee the first year? I mainly just want to keep my MR alive to give me options.

  Yes, I like the plane and welcome its longevity but I fear it is too long in the tooth now to attract another sponsor and the ultra large, 4 engine model seems somewhat out of sorts in a world of retrenching benefits, save for Qatar perhaps.

  I personally doubt we will see the expansion of business class space and comfort but I think a greater distinction might be made between first and business.
