SWISS special – book a £199 return flight to Zurich in Business Class

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

SWISS is offering a special business class fare of £199 between Heathrow and Zurich.  I will be flying this myself in two weeks so I will be able to report back on how it was, hopefully before the offer ends.

You need to book by 14th February for travel before 31st December 2018.

Your best option to maximise your miles when paying is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold.  This offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.  Our review of Amex Gold is here.

If you visit this special page of the SWISS website you will see a calendar which shows at a glance which days are available at this price.  Availability looks very good to be honest.

Remember that SWISS uses Terminal 2 at Heathrow and you will be able to access the Lufthansa lounge – or, if you’re willing to walk over to the satellite terminal, the fantastic United Club lounge (or the less fantastic Singapore Airlines and Air Canada lounges).

OT – can you please remind me if the Companion voucher will be cancelled if I cancel my BAPP card (the agent on the phone said it would be)? Thank you!

  • Sanchez says:

Is there a certain link to get 1k avios for AMEX blue supp card? Or is just automatically added.

  • mark2 says:

Are people still getting points for having a supplementary card?

    • MarkH says:

Yes – my gf added me as a supp on Tues on her BAPP and today has 3k bonus Avios. No emailed or targeted offer.

Going to add her to my Plat now and see if a bonus posts for that as well.

      • MarkH says:

5k MR plat supp bonus has posted already

        • Jay says:

Thanks for heads up MarkH…was holding off as wasn’t sure would get the 5k MR bonus but just posted as well

    • mark2 says:

      thanks

    • rash says:

Any experience of adding supp as Gold? i.e whether we get bonus points?

      • S says:

My gal added me as a supp as part of her application — card arrived 2 days ago. My supp arrived today, no points posted yet.

        • mark2 says:

I think that you have to apply after the initial, but hope I’m wrong!

Yep. Don’t apply at the same time – do it once you’ve received the primary card. Worked twice for me

off-topic re Hilton visa. I had a Hilton visa which I had held for many years and cancelled just over 6 months ago. I was going to apply for another Hilton Visa, but noted that the terms and conditions say that the free night certificate is only valid for first time applicants. Seems pretty clearly worded and puts me in doubt as to whether I would be given the free night certificate if I applied.

Has anyone got any recent experience of being successful in getting the free night voucher even through they had recently had a previous Hilton Visa card. i’ll probably only re-apply if I stand a reasonable chance of obtaining the free night certificate.

Received another voucher over the summer last year – not that recent though. Think of it more of a bonus if you get it but obvs no grounds for complaint if you don’t

O/T – flying Qatar business in a few months with a baby (who’s taken around 20 flights already and is well behaved, before any Daily Mail readers feel the need to comment). Flights are on an A330-200, A330-300, A380-800 and 787-8 Dreamliner respectively. BA have always previously put us at the front of cabin with a bed/hammock for baby to sleep. Does anyone have any experience of Qatar’s approach, suggestions on best seat(s) and/or whether it’s worthwhile contacting them in advance? I seem to recall suggestions the customer service isn’t particularly great.

    • HpW says:

You can call up the local QR office and request bassinet seats for your flight. Bassinets are located in 10A and 10K on the A380. I believe they are on row 1 for the 787 and the A330.

I wouldn’t wait until check-in, so call ahead and request. I typically get reasonable service from the London office when I call them – but that is the dedicated plat line.

OT: I’ve passed my first anniversary (5th Jan) with the IHG Premium Credit Card and have spent the required amount to trigger the free night certificate. My Creation Finance Account also confirms that the certificate is due. Does anybody know where/when I’ll find it. Will a code be uploaded to my Creation Finance account or will it be loaded to my IHG Rewards Account?

    • Genghis says:

Just after the statement date (24th or so of the month) it should appear in your IHG account. You should also receive an email at the time.

    OT/ HIlton.
How often do the offers come round on buying points? – Looking at a property that is 70,000 points a night at a cash value of $599

I see in the past there have been various 50%, extra 50% points , 100% points, etc etc
