TODAY ONLY: Book LEVEL flights from Gatwick to Vienna at 2p return

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

We wrote the other day about IAG’s launch of LEVEL as a low-cost short-haul carrier based out of Vienna.  With flights due to launch on 17th July, they are desperate to shift seats.

For TODAY ONLY, LEVEL is selling 50,000 seats at 1 Eurocent each.  Availability is very generous.

For HFP readers, the only route of interest is likely to be London Gatwick to Vienna.  2 Eurocents return gets you a flight plus cabin baggage.

Other routes are Vienna to Palma, Barcelona, Malaga, Venice, Olbia, Ibiza, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Milan Malpensa, Dubrovnik, Larnaca, Alicante, Valencia and Bilbao.

Gatwick flights start on 17th July.  Other routes have later start dates.

The fare is easily available as you can see above, from July to October.

Because LEVEL does not have its own booking site yet, you need to book at the Vueling website here.  Search for a random set of dates and, once you have that on screen, you will see a ‘View whole month’ option.

The Vueling website is here – note that it is running slowly …..

I got to the payment page, which was showing EUR-18 (yes, -18) for 3 pax LGW-VIE return. It didn’t show the full amount of boxes (for card number, expiry date, cvc) and I couldn’t get any further. Clearly they hadn’t anticipated the number of folks with time to go for a c1 seat on a Thursday morning!

Why do IAG persist with making tempting offers then asking an IT infrastructure that creaks like an old galleon to cope with the inevitable interest? This 2p offer will be counterproductive, they clearly are desperate to sell seats, but people won’t sit in front of a screen refreshing for 4 hours in the hope they just might be able to book. In fact, they might never return to the airline again, remembering the trauma of getting anywhere near booking a seat….. Bums on seats now, pay a much bigger commercial price later. Wait, reminds me of another IAG offer we saw recently……

Counterproductive yes, but i’m also convinced that there will be quite a few out there that will keep refreshing their screens for the next 4 hours:-)

Most of you have succeeded further than I did! ERROR is all I get. Been trying for ages. Boo Hoo

  • vol says:

site has crashed completely – error message

  • PAL says:

    Error as well

  • MarkUK says:

Error or ‘maintenance’ message… shame they don’t have robust enough IT to handle the offer 🙁

  • Alfie says:

Error too, since about half 11

  • Michael says:

The website gives an error from the referer URL; going straight to vueling.com gives a maintenance notice (overload?); the app does not work either. The offer is too good to be true! 😉
