British Airways Executive Club and Avis have launched a generous new offer for any UK and Ireland car rentals you need between now and mid-December.

You will receive at least 3,000 Avios when you rent a car for three days or more.

The Avios you earn are broken down as follows:

Base earnings of 3 Avios per £1 spent, with a minimum of 700 Avios

A bonus of 2,300 Avios

An additional bonus of 250 Avios for paying with a British Airways American Express card

Get 3000 Avios with an Avis car rental

Here is a summary of the small print:

Must rent a Group B or above car (excluding car groups I, J and K in Northern Ireland, and car groups D, F G, H and P in Ireland) for a minimum of 3 days

You must book before 30th September 2018

You must pick up the car between 1st September 2018 and 14th December 2018.

You must use a British Airways/Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number: Gold members N744400; Silver members N744300; Bronze members N284300; Blue members N744100. Reservations made on (post-login) and (with British Airways Executive Club passenger type selected) or with the British Airways Call Centre will automatically have the correct AWD embedded in the rental.

Valid for all participating rental locations in Mainland UK, Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland

This Avios bonus is not valid on Prestige, Van or Chauffeur Drive rentals

This isn’t as generous as some of the crazy Iberia / Avis offers we have seen (Iberia once offered 18,000 Avios for a 2-day Avis rental over a specific weekend – I think HFP readers booked every small car Avis had on offer in the UK!) but is certainly worth a look if you need a car.  It could represent a chunky return on your rental cost.

Full details are on the Avis / BA website here.

  1. “Southern Ireland” oh dear

  2. … and ‘Mainland UK’, whatever that is. Possibly Great Britain? But then there are those pesky islands: Wight, Skye blah blah.

Somebody could complain about the ‘English’ Channel or ‘British’ Isles – obviously geographical references not political, but hey it’s Saturday morning …

  3. Londonbus says:

Thanks for this. I’m off to the Kilkenomics Festival (for the 8th year running) in November and needed a car for three days. Just booked on avisba for c. £70 for a Group B (Renault Clio) pickup from Dublin Airport – which I think is great value.

    Valuing 1 avios at 1p – that’s a £30 return on a £70 booking. Not bad.

  4. I need to hire a car next weekend – pick up Friday and drop off Sunday. It is the exact same price to drop it off on Monday…if I book it until Monday but drop it off on Sunday will I still be eligible for the bonus?

    • Drop it off after closing time on Sunday and put the keys in the night drop box. That way it will get booked in as returned Monday morning. Please also remember that a day is a 24hr period from collection with car rental, not a calendar day…

  5. czechoslovakia says:

Just booked through the link above, clearly stating 3000 avios and to just book through the homepage. A Budget receipt came through with no AWD number on it. Called up to enquire, and they said the AWD on the booking is for 100 avios per day only? They new nothing of the promo. Anyone know if the promo avios are credited by BAEC?
